17 February: Pedro de la Rosa fastest on day 3 at Barcelona. Ferrari improve

Testing continued today at the Circuit de Catalunya in preparation for the start of the Formula 1 season. McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa set the fastest time of the day with a best time of 1:14.452 ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella and Rubens Barrichello. Pedro de la Rosa's time was 0.14 seconds slower than the best time set yesterday by Giancarlo Fisichella. Both Ferrari drivers recorded a significant improvement in their lap times with Barrichello just a tenth behind de la Rosa and Michael Schumacher under 0.4 seconds behind.

Giancarlo Fisichella covered the most number of laps with 121 followed by Pedro de la Rosa with 112 and Rubens Barrichello with 111 laps.

Renault, Toyota and Jordan continue testing tomorrow.

At Valencia the BAR Honda team concluded their private test. Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson were on duty with Sato driving the BAR007 while Davidson was driving the modified BAR006. Sato completed 145 laps while Davidson covered 95. No times were available.
