I liked the old system. Worked well for a long time.
Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

You know the one. Years ago, with the drivers, and the cars. How could you forget it?

I heard that there is going to be a change in points scoring next year. Can anyone confirm if that's true. :?:

News to me, I just hope they give more points for a win. Lowndsey should have taken it this year.

According to the TVNZ website in the three race format, the winner of the first race will get 128 points, the winner of race two will get 64 points, and in the last race the winner will get 128 points. It does not say what the points are for other positions. :?

With the reverse grid format ? If the reverse grid format grid comes to fruition, it In my humbe opinion will be a result of pressure by the Holden Teams aftter the results this season. I would suggest that nothing is set in concrete. The cockroach may have grandiose plans, but it is a 2 car formula. If one side spits the dummy.........hmmmmmmmmm 8)

If the 2005 championship had been run using the F1 points scoring system the results would have been:

Marcos Ambrose 60

Craig Lowndes 58

Tod Kelly 51

Rueell Ingall 47

Garth Tander 42.

Please direct all complaints to Tony Cochrone @ V8Supercars.

Here's a suggestion as to how the V8's should allocate the points system....

1st(50), 2nd(46), 3rd(42), 4th(38), 5th(35), 6th(32), 7th(29), 8th(26), 9th(24), 10th(22), 11th(20), 12th(18), 13th(16), 14th(14), 15th(12), 16th(10), 17th-25th(9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 pt).

2 pts.-pole qualifier, 1 pt-2nd place starter(from top-10 shootout)
1 pt.-leading most laps
1 pt.-"hard charger" award(most improved positions from start-finish)

Each of the two constructors(Ford, Holden) would be the awarded the points from the highest finisher in each race.

For the two long events(Sandown and Bathurst), the points would go to both drivers, including any and all bonus pts. earned on-track

And, yes, after a certain point in the season, each driver could have their worst finish dropped from the points table. However, shouldn't the objective of any major series' points syatem be to reward a driver for both winning and consistency?

Point taken. :o

BTW, the points table I posted is close to what Trans-Am uses in its' racing series(sans' the drop worst result item).
