SYMMONS PLAINS 11-13 NOVEMBER

Post by Julian Mayo » Mon Oct 31, 2005 12:21 pm

The next round of the V8 supercars takes place on the above dates.
The track is difficult to explain, I recommend having a look at the map on the official site.
It is 2.4kms in length, and runs anti-clockwise. There are 8 corners, most of which are bends. Turn 1 is a kink on the front straight some 250-300 metres past the start/finish line.
Turn 2 is the Hairpin, down hill, banked, and off camber on the exit.
T3 is basically the back staight, a very long gentle continuous shallow right hander which eventually ends in a reasonably tight LH at 4.
T5 and T6 are almost a dogleg leading to T7 leading uphill to the kink of T8 at the start of the front straight.
It is a fast track, with heavy brake aplications
The winner here will have a well balanced car, with tons of horsepower, and brilliant stoppers.
I expect the entire field to be covered by around 1 second, make a small mistake here and the pack will swallow you.
There was no round here last year.
Tod Kelly set the QF record here in 2004 with a 55:2
He also set the Race record with a time of 52:74 the same year

You can most certainly do that. As long as it is NZ time.
