THE 2006 SEASON

Post by Julian Mayo » Thu Mar 16, 2006 8:35 am

The powers that be have decided that with Tom Walkinshaw taking control of Holden Motor Sport, the Holden Rcing Team, and Toll/HSV Dealer Team, the two teams will be "grouped" for the purposes of testing.
That means they lose half their testing days. They now have 6 days, to run 2 cars. One effect of this is that Ryan Brisoe will have his testing reduced in a major way Prior to Sandown and Bathurst. Not the ideal way to tackle Mount Panorama. On the upside, theoretically there is no reasn why Tander, Skaife, and the Kelly Brothers can't swap cars. Could we see Kelly/Kelly on the side of a car at Mt. Panorama this year ?

It appears that the V8 Supercar round at Shunghai is dead and buried, probably for ever. And there is no way V8Supercars can enforce the penalty clauses in the contract, basically the promotors have said........."get stuffed".

Testing for the 2006 season began in earnest last week.
FPR,Supercheap,Perkins,HRT, Toll/HSV,BJR,GRM and Britek were among the teams who blew the cobwebs off at Winton.
FPR and Britek are "grouped", and it was Briteks second ever test day.
