The Supercar track:
Puke is a fast flowing, undulating, bumpy, happy hunting ground for NZedder Greg Murphy in his Commodore Supercar.
While it has only 7 corners, straight pieces of road are hard to find, with even the short front straight, and "looonnng" back straight more of continuous bends.
It is 2:8kms in length, and the V8Supercars peel of a lap in 57 seconds !
The lap record is held by Greg at 56:07.
He has won 4 rounds of the last 5 years, with Jason Bright taking the honours in 2004.......( rumour has it he was given an armed escort to the airport, where his passport was stamped "don't come back".)

The event:
Race 1. Saturday 100kms.
Sunday
Race 2....REVERSE GRID.....140kms
Race 3...140kms

Monday .........the teams' panel beaters go to work.

Friday Practice:
The Stone Brothers were raised just a few miles from Pukekohe race track, and yesterday Russell Ingall gave them a nice homecoming by posting fastest time in practice. The SBR fords have been quick in testing recently, and they appear to have overcome the sorting problems inherited by some innovative development during the off season.
The Friday top ten are:
Ingall 55:7928
R Kelly
J Whincup
T Kelly
J Bright
Skaife
Lowndes
Murphy
J Richards
S Richards 56: 0986

That is 4 Fords and 6 Holdens in the top ten.
But there are 3 Fords and 2 Holdens in the top 5.
The Mountain is a savage Mistress.

Well, gee, the first reverse grid race was a big hit ! So much so that as a result of a multiple car prang, John Bowe suffered a stuck throttle and damaged the armco barrier so badly the race was red flagged on lap 17 of 50.
it will continue.
