Rustys Year?

Post by Julian Mayo » Tue Mar 15, 2005 7:10 am

With Ambrose on the way to the states at the end of the year, and the Stone Bros cars up to speed at the GP, is it Rusty's turn at the title?

With his results at Oran Park, Rusty now has the remarkable achievement of finishing first or second at every V8 track in Australia and New Zealand. Yesterday he conceded that it is nigh impossible for him to take the title unless " he, Marcus, has major mechanical problems, spears off, or gets speared off" at the next couple of meetings. Given that he is known as "The Enforcer", I wonder why the idea of Marcus "spearing off" featured so strongly.

Due to the fact that drivers can drop their worst result up to and including Bathurst, Russell Ingall now leads the Championship by a slender margin.
Three rounds to go

Looks like a fine end to the season. The fight continues.
Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

2 points seperate Ingall and Ambrose.
Stone Brothers say there are no team orders, as each of the cars has different sponsors.
Russell Ingall is known as "The Enforcer" for good reason.
As we have seen on a couple of occasions Ambrose demands racing room.
The concrete canyons of Surfers await.

Following the round of Symmons Plains Russell Ingall is clinging to 28 point lead, with Lowndes 30 points ahead of Ambrose.
The title will be decided at the last round, at Phillip Island in 2 weeks time

Its Rusty's Year.
After his famous page 1 pose in a bridesmaid dress at the beginning of the year, Russell Ingall has taken out the title for 2005.
He has vowed to have a ritual burning of the dress.
