2007
Start preparing your life for the 2007 season now good people. Consult lawyers, move title deeds into shelter companies, look for pleasant abodes lest you have to move, prepare to say goodbye to the kiddies, join a dating agency to find someone with the same love of V8s.....or at least take your loved ones on a long expensive holiday preseason.
Now that V8SA has negotiated "one of the most lucrative TV rights deals in world motorsport " (AutoAction) be prepared for lifestyle changes which may cause resentment in the household.
To arrange the calendar to fit in with CH7's other commitments (ie AFL) prepare yourselves for Saturday night races and Holiday Monday races.
A street race in Townsville is looking likely to happen in 2007.
The non-championship round at the Australian Grand Prix is in doubt ( that should free up more than a few seats at the event IMHO)
Well guys n Girls, you can always point out to the other half that the favourite restaurant etc won't be so crowded on a tuesday night.

TKR
There is a strong rumour that Team Kiwi Racing will switch to the Ford product next year. Ford NZ has approached the team, and talks are under way.

Re: TKR
It appears that an official announcement is imminent, with Ford NZ about to tip a bucket load of money into motorsport, to combat the Holden=Murphy relationship which is so popular thereJulian Mayo wrote:There is a strong rumour that Team Kiwi Racing will switch to the Ford product next year. I'm surprised that it has taken Ford so long to try and combat the Holden head on. If you see ads in this country Holden is always on.
As for Murphy, there are jokes doing the rounds about him driving a super cheap car this year. His support base has dropped this year with alot of fair weather friends supporting Jason Richards now.

Apparantly Murph's support for Supercheap is dropping pretty dramatically.Southernman wrote:I'm surprised that it has taken Ford so long to try and combat the Holden head on. If you see ads in this country Holden is always on.

How big of a hit, attendance wise, do you think that'll be, with the V8s' not being a part of the GP weekend?Julian Mayo wrote:There will be no V8 Supercars at the Australian GP in 2007.

V8 guys have not even been allowwed to give out team posters.
their pits are down around St. Kilda.......if a car gets bent, there are no facilities. For years they have just fronted up, the data they get does not apply to any other track,......when is the last time an F1 car laid down its particular rubber on Mt.Panorama?

I like this idea of the Sydney street race they are throwing around. A race around Olympic Park would be a great event, and there is plenty of room and facilities there already.
It would be great to be able to catch a train directly to the event as opposed to getting caught in traffic all the time.

Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

We could discuss this at length during the 2 hours it will take us to get out of Oran Park.rah wrote:I like this idea of the Sydney street race they are throwing around. A race around Olympic Park would be a great event, and there is plenty of room and facilities there already.

Lol yeah your right about that. Not to mention the three to four hours it takes to get out of Oran Park.
I was at the ruggers on Saturday night and the infrastructure out there is fantastic. I was home in an hour or so after the game and it takes about 45 mins to get there. There is plenty of room for a race out there however I hope they avoid the paved road up the centre. I dont think the tires will like it much.

The powers that be are investigating a "push to pass" system for 2007.
The system would allow in increase in the rev limit for a specific amount of time per race, and would be selected when desired, by the driver. It appears that a "Moto-GP" style of points system will also be introduced.
The 2007 Calendar should be announced at Sandown.
