Germany outclassed Ecuador in their match. I think it meant more to Germany what side of the knock out round they wanted to be in.

Both of Swedens goals came from defensive blunders by England. The first goal England scored was brilliant. :D

Owen leaving the field early is a cause for concern heading into the knockout rounds. I still don't like Crouch up front for England.

I'm picking Germany to beat Sweden and England to beat Ecuador in the round of sixteen.

These are by players.

'I definitely want Brooklyn to be christened, but I don't know into what religion yet.' - David Beckham

'Alex Ferguson is the best manager I've ever had at this level. Well, he's the only manager I've actually had at this level. But he's the best manager I've ever had.' - David Beckham

- Graeme Le Saux

'One accusation you can't throw at me is that I've always done my best.'
- Alan Shearer

'I'd rather play in front of a full house than an empty crowd.'
- Johnny Giles

'Sometimes in football you have to score goals.' - Thierry Henry

'I would not be bothered if we lost every game as long as we won the league.' - Mark Viduka

'If you don't believe you can win, there is no point in getting out of bed at the end of the day.' - Neville Southall

As a flanker who used to live in a goldfishbowl, when only 100% fit, while waiting for an alternative to the choices in front of me on the day of the night, and kicking myself in the foot for getting red carded twice as often as I deserved, let me say that the heat in the dressing kitchen is a year older than his head in the first ninety minutes of the second half, unless you speak Italian in Barcelona as a young 30 yr old lad who won't grow capable of scoring, irrespective of the other 3 or 91 %, depending on your philosophy

Wow you could have a new career managing a football/soccer team/player. You sure do know how to talk the talk... not that anyone will ever understand a single word of it but then isn't that the job of a manager to baffle all with BS!!!!

The result in the top of the table group c match was a 0-0 draw between Argentina and Netherlands. Argentina played the better but failed to convert chances. Both sides are into the second round. Argentina play Mexico while Portugal play Netherlands.

Portugal beat Mexico 2-1 and Iran had a 1-1 draw with Angola.

It's good to see Ivory Coast have a come from behind 3-2 win over Serbia and Montenegro. :D

Judgement day for groups E and F coming up. In group E Italy v Czech and USA v Ghana. In group F Brazil play Japan and the game I'm looking forward to is Australia v Croatia. :D
