2007 CCWS Rd. 8--Rexall Grand Prix of Edmonton

Post by mlittle » Tue Jul 17, 2007 9:39 am

For the past two years, Edmonton's City Centre Airport has been the stage for one of the more interesting races on the schedule, the Rexall Grand Prix of Edmonton. Rexall Speedway(a/k/a City Centre Airport) is to new airport-circuits as Cleveland's Burke Lakefront Airport is to older airport-circuits..................fast, wide and exciting!!! Granted, there's no "funnel turn" in Edmonton as there is in Cleveland(......   ................), it's a good bet there'll be some carbon fibre parties during the race............the past two years have had some interesting highlights; I wonder, what's in store this go-round?

Weekend event schedule..........................
Friday Practice Session} 12:15 pm, 20 July 2007
Qualifying Session #1} 5 pm, 20 July 2007*
Saturday Practice Session} 12:15 pm, 21 July 2007
Qualifying Session #2} 4 pm, 21 July 2007*
Warm-Up Session} 10 am, 22 July 2007
Rexall Grand Prix of Edmonton} 3 pm, 22 July 2007**
*--includes a 15-minute practice prior to qualifying
**---live on ESPN in the United States and Global TV in Canada

For those in Australia, coverage is on Channel 7 early Tuesday morning. 12:50 - 2:00am. Abridged but better than nothing.

Now that you mention it, cmlean, Channel 7 in Australia will, if I'm not mistaken, be covering the rest of the ChampCar season starting with Edmonton.

You are not mistaken mfer. There is good news on this side of the Pacific. Having missed half the season, it will take a little while to adapt to who is driving for whom and in which colour car again.

Dominguez to race for Gommendy in today's event.............

Post by mlittle » Mon Jul 23, 2007 2:36 am

PKV Racing officials have tapped former series regular Mario Dominguez to drive for them in the #21 Pay-by-Touch/Megaspirea DP01 for today's Rexall Grand Prix of Edmonton, after series medical officials ruled that driver Tristan Gommendy was not cleared to drive today. Dominguez will be making his 82nd career start in ChampCar, his first this year since last racing for Forsythe Championship Racing in the first three races of the year.
