Peter Brock is reported to be behind plans to revive the Bathust 24 Hour race, stating that "there is no reason why it could not be as big as Lemans".

When was it last run, and how many years was the Bathurst 24 run before?

It was run in 02 & 03 only. I think there might need to be a few more decades before it is as great as Le Mans. They also need to review the classes of cars in the event. Both races were flawed by the fact that the winning cars were in a class of their own and not really based on any road car. This would be fine if there were more cars in their class. Unfortunately they just put them in with the ferrari's and porche's.
Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

Unfortunately it was not based on any road car like the other cars in its class. It did have a monaro shell, but that is where the simularity ends. It was a purpose built race car as opposed the the other cars that were special track editions of existing road cars.Julian Mayo wrote:A 6:7 litre Holden Commodore with a 6 speed sequential box blew everything sideways both years. I want one too, and it was the quickest thing out there. The Ferrari had it all over the top of the mountain, but as soon as it came to a straight it was goodbye time.

Mind you with fuel prices they way they are now i doubt many people would be lining up to buy a 7Ltr V8. I on the other hand would want to be the first in the queue.

You know, I more I hear of Bathurst, the more I wish the American LeMans Series would go there and try their hand at the Mountain. I can just see the LMPs flying down that long straight, while the Corvettes', Aston Martins' and Saleens "dogfight" through the top of the track. It'd be one h--- of a race.

Can't remember the name of it, but there was a septic entry in the last race. Did quite well too, just not quick enough to stay with the monaro. I am sure Julian would know what it was.mlittle wrote:You know, I more I hear of Bathurst, the more I wish the American LeMans Series would go there and try their hand at the Mountain.
