Is Adrian Sutil's F1 career over ?

Post by Ed » Wed May 18, 2011 10:31 am

Force India's Adrian Sutil was involved in a fight with Genii's Chief Executive Eric Lux at a private nightclub party in Shanghai following the Chinese Grand Prix. It now appears certain that Lux will be taking legal action.

The Force India team has released a brief statement confirming that there will be no change to their driver lineup for the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix but it is also an indication that Sutil is in serious trouble and his F1 career could be in doubt.

Statement by Force India:

Force India Formula One Team is aware of the statements made by both its driver, Adrian Sutil, and Mr. Eric Lux of Genii Capital, pertaining to events following the Chinese Grand Prix.

Although the team continues to monitor the situation, it remains fully committed to its driver line-up at this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix.

As facts are being slowly fed to the media, Sutil's case looks worse and worse. :(

It is certainly looking worse for Sutil. He is highly regarded in Formula 1 but this will be a big setback if he is found guilty.

It is difficult to get a good idea of what actually happened in China but it is surprising that the Chinese authorities didn't get involved at the time.

I haven't read much about it so probably not good to speculate but it would be a pity to stuff up your career over a fist fight.

Thanks for the reports (above).
Hard to know where the truth lies from the reports but I do find it interesting that he wants 10 million euro for compensation and
"does not exclude commencing an action against any other persons involved in this matter".
If it WAS an accident on Sutil's part or even intentional, what has Lewis Hamilton or anyone else in the room got to do with it.
I don't know.... sounds like a money grab to me.

Just read this.....

May 19 (GMM) A video exists of the incident involving Adrian Sutil and Eric Lux, according to the Swiss newspaper Blick.

The internal security footage at the M1nt nightclub in Shanghai could prove decisive in Force India driver Sutil's legal defence as Renault co-owner Lux pushes criminal charges.

Sutil, whose entire formula one career could hang on the outcome of the saga, insists he unintentionally cut Lux's neck with a broken glass during a post-race party attended also by Sutil's close friend Lewis Hamilton.

Lux was wearing a bandage in Turkey two weeks ago to cover more than a dozen stiches, and Bernie Ecclestone told Blick: "The victim was damn lucky."

Would love to see that!!!!
