Well Jim, I have to agree with you.

This track has to suit the Mercedes with an extremely long straight (loosely speaking). This will give the Mercedes a chance to utilize their horsepower advantage. Sebastian Vettel and his Ferrari will face a stern test in determining just how fast his red rocket really is.

I have gone for the Red Bulls to finish 4th and 6th and being split by Kimi.

7th has been given to Sergio Perez from Hulkenberg, Massa and Ocon.

With the 3 place grid penalty to Sainz and the (lack of) Renault horsepower, I feel this will keep him from the points.

It will be interesting to see just how much reliable horsepower McLaren and Honda will have at this event. My feeling is that it won't be enough however a finish would be something to look forward to.

Oh, and hats off to Patrick Stewart for his part in the presentation in Canada. His partaking in Daniel Ricciardo's 'shoey' made me laugh

19	01:49.048	Pascal Wehrlein Sauber
20	01:49.937	Marcus Ericsson Sauber
It all looked fairly quiet with all teams going through their processes until, with just 10 minutes left in the session, Sergio Perez stuffed his Force India into the wall at turn 8.

Red Bull are impressive at the top of the practice times on Friday. But, it is still just that, Friday..

Well, if session 1 was quiet, session 2 was the opposite.
Red Bull again showed some real pace but Max looped the car into the turn 1 barrier within sight of the chequered flag.
Palmer replicated Perez's incident at turn 8 to again bring out the red flags mid session.

Most impressive is the comparative closeness of times with 0.3 seconds covering the top 5 cars. Grip is still being chased by the teams as the track comes to them.

First things.
For those who visited the site on Sunday, apologies from the administrator. The site host had some major problems.
It has taken a lot of Sunday to get most of the site back and until today (Monday) to get the Forums back online. For that, thanks to the administrator for their work to get us back.

Well, what a race and totally unexpected result. Who would have thought that Daniel Ricciardo would win and the Williams of Lance Stroll would finish on the podium. If only the race was one lap shorter.

The incident between Vettel and Hamilton will be discussed in the media for some time. My thoughts are that Vettel got off lightly with a 10 second stop and go penalty. This 'penalty' allowed him to get an advantage over Hamilton after Hamilton himself had to visit the pits to rectify the unsecured helmet padding in his cockpit.
And Valtteri Bottas. Being allowed to pass the safety car and return to the lead lap was a game changer as he was caught up as a lapped car having to obey the blue flags and let cars on the lead lap past. His last lap to catch Stroll in sight of the line when it seemed that Stroll had done sufficient to get the second step on the podium.
Ricciardo returned to the track after an early pit stop to clear debris from the brake duct next to last. Everything seemed to go his way and the pass on both Williams going into turn 1 following the restart proved the defining moment for him in this race.

Great fightback drive from Bottas, but also very impressive from Stroll. Still his first podium in F1 and he handled the pressure very well.

Stupid collision by the Force Indias. They might've had a first win, even a 1-2.
