This weekend we return to the 'Red Bull Ring' in Spielberg, Austria.
This circuit is another which lends itself to the more powerful engines of Mercedes and Ferrari.

This leads me to my predictions for the weekend.
1st Lewis Hamilton - Mercedes. Lewis showed in Azerbaijan that he still has the drive to win yet another WDC.
2nd Valtteri Bottas - Mercedes. Bottas is on a roll at the moment. the fine second after being a lap down show how he has adapted to his car.
3rd Sebastian Vettel - Ferrari. May have gotten over his race rage incident with Hamilton.
4th Daniel Ricciardo - Red Bull. He is really on top of his game and needs to show young Max who's boss.
5th Kimi Raikkonen - Ferrari. Kimi just fails to impress me. Unless the car is perfect, mediocrity seems to prevail.
6th. Max Verstappen - Red Bull. This kid is really quick. Machinery seems to let him down.
7th Filipe Massa - Williams. Time to bounce back.
8th Sergio Perez - Force India. This team and driver combination is the major improver for 2017.
9th Carlos Sainz - Toro Rosso. He just needs something under him to show his true talent.
10th Esteban Ocon - Force India. Just seems to gather points but this time will be in the small variety.

I have left out Lance Stroll, Nico Hulkenberg and the Hass drivers as I don't feel this circuit will suit them.
I would also like to add the McLarens but they will be too far down on power.

FP1 is in the history books and the track is slippery. More laps and more rubber down should fix this.
Max Verstappen has the only notable incident running over the trap and clipping the wall at turn 8.

Hamilton takes a 5 grid position penalty into this race for a gearbox change and will start from P8. Raikkonen, Ricciardo, Verstappen, Grosjean and Perez all move up 1 grid position as a result of his penalty.

Biggest disappointment would have to go to he Williams duo. Their cars have been so tail happy all weekend and both fail to get out of Q1.

Well. What an exciting finish to the race with Vettel almost hunting down Bottas and Hamilton almost getting home over Ricciardo.
Watching the race, after the demolition derby in turn 1 with Kvyat barrelling into both Alonso and Verstappen, then Ricciardo and his pass on Raikkonen into turn 2, it then settled down into a tactical battle with not too many on track passes. Maybe this was a sign of things to come with all teams experiencing blistering on their Pirelli's. The Williams duo benefited from the turn 1 incident with both finding a route through to their approximate finishing positions. You have to feel a bit sorry for Palmer. This 11th place finish seems to have his name written on it if he can get the car home. And, I don't recall hearing Grosjean moan about his brakes on his Hass.

Very exciting finish (shame about the preceding 65 laps...).

I gave Driver of the Day to Ricciardo. Excellent defensive work against Hamilton. Bottas did a great job too on dying tyres, so could've gone either way, but I think the basic performance difference between the top two teams is smaller by far than that between Red Bull and Mercedes.
