Re: The 2018 Canadian GP Thread
This weekend sees the return to Montreal and a chance for the Mercedes to stretch their legs. Ferrari don't seem to be quite on the pace at the moment but, now that Monaco has passed, it will be time for the new upgrades to be bolted onto each of the teams weapon of choice.
Red Bull and all the Renault powered teams will see where they stand in the big picture. Just who will get the latest incarnation of the power unit is still to be decided however, one thing that you can be sure of, the factory team will be one of the first to be using it.
This event may also see the re-invigoration of the Haas team. This event is close to home and performances here will set them in good stead for the remainder of the season.
Force India have been quietly going about their business of getting their cars up to speed. With the Mercedes power unit pushing them down the straight, this could also be a reasonable event for them.
Toro Rosso will need their pilots at their best. This circuit will show up their short comings.
Sauber will again struggle but their problems will be nowhere as great as the once mighty Williams team. If their was one team that need a change of fortune then this is it.
So, what are my thoughts.
It will be a Mercedes victory, possibly both on the podium.
A Ferrari should finish in second or third.
Possibly a Red Bull or two and then the other Ferrari.
Then it really gets interesting with the Renaults, McLarens, Haas, Force Indias all trying to capture those elusive points at the bottom of the ten.
Sauber may also pick one up but the Williams will again be propping up the results.
I hope that I am wrong but something drastic would have to occur for a Williams reversal of form.

Re: The 2018 Canadian GP Thread
Just read that Ricciardo is due to take a minimum of a 10 grid place penalty in Canada.
This will force him to, at best, a mid field start.

Re: The 2018 Canadian GP Thread
Ricciardo has said that the MGU-K that was to have caused him a penalty in Montreal is now again useable.
He expects to have a penalty some time in the near future, France, but not in Canada if all goes to plan.
He still has to get through practice and qualifying though.......
