Re: The 2018 Austrian GP Thread

This weekend sees the return to the Red Bull Ring for the second of 3 events in 3 weekends.

I expect to see the Mercedes domination of this track continue however the Ferrari did show a surprising turn of speed last weekend.
The Red Bulls, in the hands of Verstappen and Ricciardo, should again be near the pace however the slight lack of Renault power will hamper their progress.
Surprise of last weekend was the pace of the Haas team. If they are able to dial the cars in again this weekend, they will be near the pointy end.
Renault should also prove to be near the next best as will Force India.
I don't expect the Sauber to be quite as good at this circuit however Charles Leclerc may prove me wrong.
Toro Rosso and McLaren will again fight out the next to rear battle and, unfortunately, Williams will again be at the rear.

These are my thoughts, what say you?

Mercedes turned up with some serious chassis updates for this event.
One of the smaller updates is the rear view mirror supports. Funny how Force India and Red Bull also have the same idea at the same time.

The teams got down to business and all seemed to do their scheduled runs.
Verstappen dipped his left wheel in the gravel coming out of turn 4 and looped his Red Bull before continuing on.
Vandoorne had a little off track in the final turn which resulted in the disintegration of the nose of the McLaren.

The stewards are investigating an 'unsafe release' from the pits by Vandoorne which almost caused a collision in the pit lane with Vettel.

Pierre Gasly's practice program was interrupted with a left font suspension failure after a small off at turn 9. The team repaired the car however half the session time was lost in doing so.
The Ferrari looks really good and fast on the long runs. Red Bull seems to the one who is struggling the most with, what looks like, graining on the rears and a lack of pace.
Fernando Alonso struggled throughout the session with the need for a floor change and the balance of the McLaren not there
