Welcome back to victory lane, Wade.................

Postby mlittle » Sun Jul 08, 2007 8:07 am

For 2005 IPS champion Wade Cunningham, it wasn't the prettiest race he's ever run, but I suspect he'll take the victory in the first race of the Corning Twin 100's at the Glen regardless, holding off Aguri-Panther Racing's Hideki Mutoh to capture his first win since Chicagoland in 2006........here are the top-10 from race 1:

1st} Wade Cunningham, AFS Racing
2nd} Hideki Mutoh, Aguri-Panther Racing
3rd} Alex Lloyd, Sam Schmidt Motorsports
4th} Phil Giebler, Playa del Racing
5th} Bobby Wilson, Brian Stewart Racing
6th} Daniel Herrington, SpeedWorks**
7th} Jaime Camara, Andretti-Green Racing
8th} Richard Antinucci, Cheever Racing
9th} Mike Potekhin, Apex Racing
10th} Andrew Prendeville, RLR-Andersen Racing

**--following the race, there was a blind draw to determine how many of the top-10 finishers would be inverted for race #2; positions 1-6 will be inverted, with SpeedWorks's Daniel Herrington starting on point Sunday

[Mod's note........as good as Alex Lloyd is running in the IPS this year, it would be great for an IndyCar Series team to pick up Lloyd and run him in a few ICS races at the end of the season.]

After having a not-so-good race in race #1 of the Corning Twin 100's, Alex Lloyd simply dominated race 2, easily winning and padding his already large points lead; here are the top-10 from race #2.............

1st} Alex Lloyd, Sam Schmidt Motorsports
2nd} Wade Cunningham, AFS Racing
3rd} Daniel Herrington, SpeedWorks
4th} Phil Giebler, Playa del Racing
5th} Richard Antinucci, Cheever Racing
6th} Hideki Mutoh, Aguri-Panther Racing
7th} Mike Potekhin, Apex Racing
8th} Andrew Prendeville, RLR-Andersen Racing
9th} Jonathan Klein, Team Moore Racing
10th} Jaime Camara, Andretti-Green Racing

Although they're only running a partial schedule in the Indy Pro Series, Cheever Racing is getting better and better, as shown by driver Richard Antinucci, who posted his first career IPS win, holding off 2005 IPS champion Wade Cunningham. On the flip side, current points leader Alex Lloyd took a small hit in the points as gearbox problems ended his day at the halfway point, resulting in a 22nd-place finish.

1st} Richard Antinucci, Cheever Racing
