Round of Bahrain 2010 - Picks and comments
Although the first event of 2010 is a bit under 4 weeks away, players have already started submitting their picks as soon as the competition was launched so we decided to create this thread early!
8 'n' Pole players, post your picks for the first race of the season in Bahrain.
You can submit your picks at http://www.newsonf1.com/10npole/submit.htm then paste your picks here and tell us why you think your picks will be the correct ones.
For the latest Formula 1 news, visit the Formula 1 News page.
The deadline for submitting the picks for Bahrain is the 12th of March prior to the start of the first Friday practice session.
Good luck

hi,
These are my first words on this forum so first I'd like to say hello to everybody. I am Leon from Poland and here is my quess:
Winner: Lewis Hamilton
Second: Michael Schumacher
Third: Fernando Alonso
Fourth: Sebastian Vettel
Fifth: Robert Kubica
Sixth: Kamui Kobayashi
Seventh: Nico Rosberg
Eighth: Vitantonio Liuzzi
Ninth: Rubens Barrichello
Tenth: Sebastien Buemi
Pole: Lewis Hamilton
I have never seen such a number of equal competitors as this year. I still have a filling that it is impossible to predict anything. There are number of players to put in top ten but there is simply not enough space in it:)
Good luck!

mlittle's picks look a lot like mine:
Winner: Sebastian Vettel
Second: Felipe Massa
Third: Michael Schumacher
Fourth: Fernando Alonso
Fifth: Lewis Hamilton
Sixth: Adrian Sutil
Seventh: Nico Hulkenberg
Eighth: Rubens Barrichello
Ninth: Jamie Alguersuari
Tenth: Jarno Trulli
Pole: Sebastian Vettel
Crystal ball race predictions: Sebastian Vettel will experience perhaps the most continuity this year since there is no new teammate to deal with and the car is a evolution of the 2009 car. He runs well at Bahrain. I predict he will win from pole.
Felipe Massa will come 2nd proving he is still on form. He and Michael Schumacher will benefit from Alonso having car problems and dropping down from 2nd place where he will run for most of the race. Schumacher will make the podium in his comeback race after passing many cars on the opening lap.
Lewis Hamilton will run 5th all day nursing handling issues. Adrian Sutil, rookie Nico Hulkenberg, and Jaime Alguersauri will benefit from a 1st lap wreck which will take out both Renaults, Jenson Button, Mark Webber, and Nico Rosberg. Rubens Barrichello will be involved but continues running to pass Alguersauri on the last lap. Everyone else will retire except for Jarno Trulli who will use a 4 stop pit strategy to try to run faster than the others on an extremely light fuel load. It will keep him pretty much mid pack (10th) until his tires go south. Attrition will reward him with the highest spot he reaches at the end of the race (10th).
Ah, it is to dream!!!

Schuey takes out Vettel.
Hamilton takes out Button.
Sutil takes out The Hulk, and 3 backmarkers pile in.
Webbo wins the restart and the race, then
Alonso
Massa
Kobayashi
Trulli
Rossberg
Kubica
Barrichello.
The only other possible finisher, Liuzzi is too tired, and retires with 4 laps to go.

The Mountain is a savage Mistress.
Julian is overly optimistic about Shuey's 'take out' skills! And anyway, the young German is only third on the list of the SEVEN TIME WORLD CHAMPION's rivals this year, after the brilliant Spaniard and the cool Brit.
I DO believe Ross Braun will send Michael out in a very light machine set up for qualifying, hoping to put him on the pole, but willing to settle for any spot in the first two rows. And I don't think the Honda (badged Merc) will be able to beat the McLaren however.
So I pick the Pole to go to Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren, just pipping Seb Vettel
1 But the race will go to Fernando Alonso in the Ferrari
2 Hamilton will get second in his sleek McLaren
3 Michael will be on the podium's lowest step in his silver ghost
4 Seb Vettel will be frantically pushing the old man in his Red Bull after letting both Fernando AND Michael slip by on a course where overtaking is very difficult
5 Felipe Massa will gnash his teeth at the fast cars and faster drivers ahead of him, but he'll have to get used to it; his car will always be the conservatively set up one in the Scuderia's plans
6. Mark Webber will certainly be in the points, maybe even higher than sixth, but his best finish in the desert has been 7th in '08
7. Jenson will always finish about three or four places behind Lewis I fear
8. and Nico Rosberg will echo Jenson for most of the year, too
9. Robert Kubica will be glad to get in the points in his Lada/Renault... will someone please get him a manager so that he can get a machine worthy of his talents!?
10. Finally, Kobayashi will, if he doesn't drive off the course , get the final points in the BMW/Sauber/Ferrari
Cheers Race Fans; it's gonna be fun this year

Julian: I believe you are correct about Kobayashi's fearlessness; I just checked the F1 website for last year's two races: Koby qualified 11 & 12 and finished 9 and 6th --which shows you he's got one hell of a heavy foot on the gas! Just what we need in this field!
