I found it strange watching a race in Sweden with as little snow as there was this year. It shows that climate change isn't just a myth. :o

Latvala impressed me big time. If he can drive like that in the future I can see him winning the drivers champ but only after Loeb retires.

I've tried hard all day long but he's still in front.
Those words from reigning WRC champion Sebastien Loeb are a good description of the first leg of this year's Rally Mexico, where for every move he would make to gain time on leg 1 leader Jari-Matti Latvala, the Finn would match him right back. Rounding out the top-5 are Aussie Chris Atkinson, followed by his fellow Subaru works pilot Petter Solberg and Ford's Mikko Hirvonen. Here are the top-10 from leg 1 of the Rally Mexico......

1st} Jari-Matti Latvala(FIN/Ford)............................1 hr., 23:38.6 sec
2nd} Sebastien Loeb(FRA/Citroen).........................-9.6 sec
3rd} Chris Atkinson(AUS/Subaru)..........................-22.4 sec
4th} Petter Solberg(NOR/Subaru)..........................-1:01.9 sec
5th} Mikko Hirvonen(FIN/Ford)..............................-1:10.6 sec
6th} Henning Solberg(NOR/Ford)...........................-2:43.6 sec
7th} Matthew Wilson(GBR/Ford).............................-2:52.9 sec
8th} Frederico Villegra(ARG/Ford)..........................-5:30.0 sec
9th} Ricardo Triviao(MEX/Peugeot)........................-8:18.6 sec
10th} Sebastien Ogier(FRA/Citroen).......................-9:13.0 sec

Engine problems befell leg 1 leader Jari-Matti Latvala, giving reigning WRC champion Sebastien Loeb the chance to retake the lead in this weekend's Rally Mexico, but right on his heels, just over a minute back of the Frenchman is works Subaru pilot Chris Atkinson; could we possibly see another first-time winner on the WRC circuit this year?

1st} Sebastien Loeb(FRA/Citroen)............................3 hrs., 08:39.8 sec
2nd} Chris Atkinson(AUS/Subaru)............................-1:01.8 sec
3rd} Jari-Matti Latvala(FIN/Ford)..............................-2:06.4 sec
4th} Henning Solberg(NOR/Ford)..............................-3:51.6 sec
5th} Mikko Hirvonen(FIN/Ford).................................-4:07.0 sec
6th} Matthew Wilson(GBR/Ford)................................-6:10.6 sec
7th} Federico Villegra(ARG/Ford)..............................-18:14.3 sec
8th} Ricardo Triviao(MEX/Peugeot)...........................-19.31.6 sec
9th} Sebastien Ogier(FRA/Citroen)...........................-22:30.8 sec
10th} Jaan Molder(EST/Suzuki)................................-24:02.9 sec

Loeb takes the win south of the border..........
