Dixon to follow Scheckter, Enge into A1GP?
According to news reports from Target/Ganassi Racing, current driver Scott Dixon could potentially race for his native New Zealand in some of the later rounds of the inaugural season of the A1 Grand Prix. The 2003 IRL IndyCar Series champion, who recently won at Watkins Glen(his first victory since Richmond--2003) has said, according to Autosport-Atlas.com that, barring any refusals from owner Chip Ganassi, that he would like to compete in at least two races, including the round at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Dixon was a guest of A1 Team New Zealand at the EuroSpeedway for Rd. 2, where fellow IRL racers Tomas Scheckter(A1 S. Africa) and Tomas Enge(A1 Czech Rep.) raced over the weekend.
He said in the article:

Dixon, if he gets the go-ahead, would join Scheckter and Enge in having competed in the A1GP. American racer Bryan Herta's name has also been floated, particulary concerning Laguna Seca, where he could pilot the A1 United States entry towards the end of the season.I'd like to do some races. I think I'd probably do some races (where) I know the circuit, such as Laguna Seca, Monterrey(Mexico) and Eastern Creek(Australia). A lot of it still lies with Chip Ganassi, because I'm still contracted with them and Target, so it all lies in their hands, and we'll probably work that out over the next couple of weeks.

They are doing a great job anyway. I would have thought Murphys bad back would have kept him out of single seaters these daysSouthernman wrote:The New Zealand team have wanted Dixon to drive the American races, if available from the start.
There was also talk of Murphy driving in the Australian race. In my opinion that would be a big mistake as he hasn't raced open wheelers competitively for a long time.
