Testing, Day 1 Franck Montagny, R24-08, 118 laps, 473 km
The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team today began a three-day test at
Valencia. Franck Montagny was the team�s sole representative today, and will be joined tomorrow by Fernando Alonso.
The day�s
programme focused almost entirely on tyre testing, conducting the usual range of performance evaluations on new constructions and
compounds. A smaller number of these tyres will then be tested tomorrow over longer distances.
Conditions were also very
windy, disrupting the team�s work.
Chief Test Engineer Christian Silk commented:
�Today, we began what has become
the normal tyre evaluation process for 2005 specification tyres. Our performance runs yielded promising results, with further steps
forward in the compounds and constructions, and we will continue our work with longer distance running tomorrow.�
