30 July: Hungarian Grand Prix - Qualifying Report - Red Bull Racing

Although David Coulthard suffered a minor off-track excursion at Turn four in the closing minutes of the last practice session this morning, there was no damage to his RB1. In this afternoons qualifying session, which was contested in a sweltering air temperature of more than 35C, David and his team-mate Christian Klien set the thirteenth and eleventh fastest time respectively. They will line up in the same positions on tomorrows grid for the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Qualifying

David Coulthard (Car 14):
Position: 13; Time: 1:22.279; Engine: TJ027

Im a little disappointed. I had a little bit of a wobble at Turn one and know I could have extracted more time in the middle section, but thats what I achieved today. Its now a question of looking ahead to the race. I didnt give myself the best preparation for qualifying this morning as I went off the track on my new tyres, and that was effectively the only time I had to try them out before qualifying. I knew I was always going to give away a little time after that, but well just have to see what we can do tomorrow.

Christian Klien (Car 15):
Position: 11; Time: 1:21.937; Engine: TJ024

Not a bad qualifying time for me, I think. The balance of the car felt much better in qualifying than it did this morning, so I was able to push quite hard. It was a pretty clean lap with no mistakes so Im happy. Its also good to have gone faster than my team-mate David. Christian Horner, Sporting Director: Christian drove a strong lap with no real mistakes and got a good time. David was quicker in the first sector, but lost a little bit of a time in the middle section. Were pleased with the strategy weve adopted here and with the performance of both cars today.
