The irony, rah, was that both Helio and Briscoe were on fresh slicks, while Patrick had yet to pit, and was thus on older slicks. From what the camera showed, Helio and Danica were fighting for position, when Briscoe comes up to them, and brakes very, very late into the hairpin. Patrick, holding her line, gets hit by Ryan, who in turn, pushes her car into Castroneves, taking all three of them out of the race. If there's one spot at Infineon where you should never try a three-wide move for position, it is that hairpin, and I would chalk up the accident to rookie inexperience on Briscoe's part. I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm stepping on his toes, rah, but that's what it looked like. Don't worry, though; back at Michigan, Patrick tried a banzai pass during the race and got called for it by race control, so they've both had their "rookie" moments.

Of course I never saw the race and read every report saying it was his fault, and hearing Ryan say it was his fault. This would obviously mean that the above opinion is a load of cods wallop.

Hmmm, yes
