France wins Eastern Creek sprint race...................

Post by mlittle » Mon Feb 04, 2008 9:09 am

In what had been announced as his final A1GP race, France's Loic Duval won a spirited sprint race at the Eastern Creek circuit in Australia earlier today in conditions dominated by rain...........rounding out the podium were Canada's Robert Wickens(in 3rd) and New Zealand's Jonny Reid(runner-up)....afterwards, Duval commented on what the win meant to him and to Team France:

Loic Duval, driver--Team France:
It feels great. We've been running behind for a long time so it's really good for us to win this race and the team did a great job. It was perfect and we needed it. It was important for us to win a race and this may be my last race in A1GP so I'm happy to leave the series with a victory. It was really hard in the rain but because of our pace in the dry I had a really good gap so we were not really worried about the other guys. We were trying to stay on track and not take any risks.

South Africa wins Feature Race........................

Post by mlittle » Mon Feb 04, 2008 9:16 am

With the next round of the 2007-2008 A1GP season just 'round the corner in Durban, what better way for South Africa to return for its' home race than with a win? Well.....that's what they did, winning the Feature race which involved IMO a dumb move by France's Loic Duval, who attempted a dive-bomb pass on Jonathan Summerton in the "We the People" Team USA car during the feature race, only to end up knocking Summerton out.......... ..........(at least Duval got a drive-through for his troubles.........  )

Top-10 from the Feature Race......................................
1st} South Africa...................................42 laps

Team NZ had to start from pit row following drive shaft problems. A very good drive, on a wet track

It was a good come back from Reid starting at the back after stalling his car. Reid has admited that the stall was his fault but he wasn't happy that the marshals didn't push start him so he could start at the front of the grid.

The best drive of the day goes to the Canadian driver in the sprint race.

It was carnage

Some basic errors...

I think Zaugg needs a bit of a wake up call...he is starting to take too many chances because he is getting too comfortable in that seat....there is no-one there to challenge him for the seat....he is a decent driver granted, but I have driven with him in karts before and to be honest he was nothing to write home about...
