More news and notes from the "World Center of Racing" as Day 2 of the January Test hits the rearview mirrors..............

~~Possible tire issues? One of the big news items of the weekend so far is the issue of the new Pirelli P-Zero tires the Grand-Am Rolex Series are using this year and several drivers have had......uhh, issues with the tires this weekend, including two of Ganassi's drivers, Juan Pablo Montoya[who flatspotted a couple during Friday practice] and Salvador Duran[who smacked the tri-oval wall after one decided to delaminate itself......

]. The worst incident happened to Krohn Racing's Ricardo Zonta, who made hard contact with the outside wall entering turn 1 of the infield road course when yet another Pirelli decided to separate its' tread from the tire.....

Thankfully, he was checked at the Halifax Infield Care Center and was released without injury....the #76 Krohn Racing entry, however, is likely headed for the carbon-fiber boneyard.....

~~Any chance to talk to a driver, take it!......any chance you get to talk with a driver in the paddock on a race or test weekend, you take it, and I got that shot, getting to talk with incoming Craftsman Truck Series(and former Grand-Am) racer Colin Braun this afternoon during a break in the test sessions. Say whatever you want about the 18yo Texan, but this cat's the real deal and although I'm not a betting man, I'm willing to wager some dead Presidents' that he's going to light up the racetrack in 2008 and beyond. Or, you could take Ford Racing's Dan Davis at his words:

He's going to be setting a lot of records before his racing days are over.
