Renault Rumors & Silly Season
When I heard that Renault was thinking about 'buying back in,' to the F1 Renault team, I did some quick research. And considering there are only four Renault blocks running their results must have the Germans at Mercedes grinding their teeth! By my count, the Renault engine has 6 wins: Malaya, Spain, Monaco, Valencia (Europe), Great Britain, & Hungary ... AND
4 second place finishes: Australia, Malaya, Monaco, & Belgium ... AND
6 third place finishes: Spain, Monaco, Turkey, Germany, Hungary, & Belgium
that’s sixteen podiums! Not too shabby.
In addition they have twenty one more finishes in the points, including
3 fourth place finishes: Bahrain, Malaya, & Canada
4 fifth place finishes: China, Canada, Valencia, & Hungary
4 sixth place finishes: China, Turkey, & Germany
4 seventh place finishes: China, Canada, Great Britain & Germany
3 eighth place finishes: Bahrain, China & Spain
2 ninth place finishes: Australia & Belgium AND
1 tenth place finish: Germany
Remember: there are only four cars running Renault power: Vettel & Webber’s Red Bulls and Kubica & Petrov’s Renaults. Whereas there are six running Mercs: Hamilton & Button’s McLarens; Rosberg & Schumacher’s Mercedes & Sutil & Liuzzi’s Force India Mercs; and another four running Ferrari’s: Alonso & Massa’s ‘Factory’ Ferraris plus the STR-Ferraris of Alguersuari and Buemi. Needless to say, Ferrari's numbers aren't even close to the Renaults!
I haven’t totaled up the numbers for the Mercs, although I very much doubt that they've done nearly as well as the French manufacturer.
It is silly season, and so I am heartened by the Renault’s 'buy back' rumor, especially since it is paired with another delicious rumor, namely that the want to spend some dough to team up Robert Kubica with a very expensive Kimi Raikkonen next year!!
Now wouldn't THAT be exciting: to see Fernando stuck in a red sled while his former team is decimating the Red Bulls and McLarens!! His (Fernando's) career would start looking like Jenson Button's!!
And speedy and well chauffered Renaults would be yet another spanner in the Ross Braun's works! Especially if McLaren deserted them for a french powerplant, too!?!
Gosh, next year is ALREADY looking to be more exciting than this year. Maybe F1 is really back?!? Now if we could just do something about Mr. Ecclestone
Cheers, Chaps,
Jim Watt

Unfortunately its come to an end with 2 races left as my sponsors have decided that they have spent enough for the year
Just gotta focus on next year now...
*Pulls out list of drivers I've seen over the years whose seasons ended courtesy of sponsor and adds T-K to that long, long list.............*
Ouch..........ouch..............
That's gotta bite, T-K. Unfortunately, it seems almost the standard in most ladder series around the world.
OTOH, you keep working hard at your craft, T-K, and who knows.......we might just see you at Indy, Sebring, Daytona.......maybe even LeMans one day?
