Re: The 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix Thread
This weekend, we are of to one of my favourite races in the season. This street circuit, with its twisty bits and the main long straight is a great combination which usually promotes many passing opportunities. Overrun turn 1 and someone will stick it back up the inside and you have to try all over again.
Biggest improvers would have to be Ferrari, who, at Monaco, stunned the rest of the grid with that sensational qualifying lap by Charles Leclerc. Carlos Sainz held his end up with a magnificent 2nd place.
Now, what will happen at Baku?
Will the Red Bulls and Mercedes renew their rivalry? Will Ferrari also join the party? What about McLaren? This is also a circuit where Daniel Ricciardo has been fast. Will he again be shown up by Lando Norris? What about Pierre Gasly in the AlphaTauri?
There are so many questions that will be answered on the weekend.
Needless to say, I am so looking forward to this weekend. What about you?

Re: The 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix Thread
Wow! That was a chaotic qualifying session.
So many times left out on the circuit with the red flags negating the the final runs in Q2 ans Q3.
Qualifying started badly with both Lance Stroll and Antonio Giovinazzi having separate incidents in Q1 with both resulting in red flags.
Q2 ended prematurely with Daniel Ricciardo having his own incident what ended the session with a bit over a minute left.
Q3 reached a similar conclusion when Yuki Tsunoda and then Carlos Sainz both had their own incidents at the same turn.

Re: The 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix Thread
Well, what a finish!
Max Verstappen would have to be the unluckiest driver on the day.
The race was his and Red Bull's to lose when the unthinkable happened and his rear tyre deflated causing his collision into the concrete on the main straight. This incident then the whole turned race on it's head with Bottas taking a pit stop before the race was red flagged and ending somewhere near the last car running. The red flag enabled drivers the option to change tyres and, on the restart, Hamilton took a dive down the inside of Perez but didn't make it cleanly through turn 1. With all the big guns now out of the equation, Perez took his first victory for Red Bull and extended their constructors title lead.
The writing was on the wall for tyre failures as Lance Stroll punctured and ended his race in the barrier, again on the main straight, around lap 30. He was the only driver who was still to pit following the start of the race.
