The first practice is in the books and the drivers are struggling as each tries to learn the new circuit.
Valtteri Bottas finished his session early after losing the rear of his Alfa Romeo and finishing in the barriers.
Carlos Sainz had a big lose and ruined a set of softs. We will see if this comes back to haunt them in qualifying.
Max Verstappen clipped the barrier coming out of turn 16 but continued on.
In the first part of the session, many drivers struggled entering turn 1 and ruining their lap before it had even started.
This is shaping up to be an interesting grand prix as Mercedes, in particularly George Russell, seem to be on the pace.

Well. What an odd session!
Valtteri Bottas' Alfa Romeo wasn't repaired in time and took no part in the session.
Carlos Sainz lost his Ferrari and ended in the barriers with damage to his left front. This brought out the first red flag for the session.
Red Bull decided to change Max Verstappen's gearbox as a preventative measure and missed the early part of the session. He went out for a sighting lap and, what appeared to be, hydraulic problems then presented themselves.
Nicholas Latifi left the pits and encountered drive problems with his Williams. He stopped on track bringing out the second red flag.
