As I posted earlier he will be focussed on trying to out-shine his teammate. Lets hope that when it comes to the first race Massa can show him how it's done.

Mind you with these two fighting it out, will make for even more interesting viewing :)

I think each driver would want to outshine their team-mate but I do agree that Massa and Alonso will push each other (hopefully though it wouldn't turn ugly like it did for Alonso/Hamilton in 2007).

What is impressive about the times from Alonso is that this is his first day in the car and he topped the timesheets pretty much straight away.

Not sure if I would read too much into this.

I am assuming the car is VERY different to the 2009 car, so having driven the 2009 car is probably not an advantage.

Massa probably wanted to settle in since his incident.

Massa started first and would have not been going full tilt straight out hte pits with a new car. They need to do testing first get some data on the car etc...

Anyhow I hope you are wrong and that Massa can hold his own against Alonso. I have little respect for Alonso.....

Quick Question.

I've read that testing limited to 15,000 test kilometres during a calendar year. Which must be completed 1 week before the first Grand Prix.

So will the teams in Valencia use up thier Quota or will they save some for other test days?

Guess I need to find the length of the Valancia track and work out the distance they have done each day based on number of laps.

Must admit not been interested in following testing before, but this year is a bit different.

From F1 site:

Valencia
Race Date: 27 Jun 2010
Number of Laps: 57
Circuit Length: 5.419 km
Race Distance: 308.883 km
Lap Record: 1:38.683 - T Glock (2009)

So I am guessing this is NOT the full race track for testing.

It is very hard to read much from testing but I do think that most of the teams would try to make the testing even between their drivers. Even the teams want to see their drivers push each other.

What I do not want to see is a dominant car like we saw last year in the first part of the season. I hope that 3 or even 4 teams are very close and can fight for wins.

This is the street circuit

The Valencia circuit is more known for the MotoGP races. I don't think there was ever an F1 race on this track but the weather is good

The official name is Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo

The track length is: 4.051km

Hi Ed,

I agree, especially with your last comment. I would not like to see another 'brawn season start' again. It would be good to have 3, 4 or even five teams fighting it out. Something simular to the end of last season I guess, but with:

Mclaren
Red Bull
Sauber
Merc
Ferrari

I must chase my friend again who was trying to get tickets for Bahrain.

This is correct, here is the actual regulation:

- No competitor may carry out more than 15,000km of track testing during a calendar year.
- No track testing may take place between the start of the week preceding the first Event of the Championship and 31 December of the same year with the following exception.
(the exception relates to replacement drivers)

The teams will have calculated how many laps they can do and will adjust accordingly depending on the weather, reliability, etc ...

Hi Ed,

Yes read that on the F1 website.

Do they normally just do one set of testing or will we see some of these teams at other testing venues?
