2007 IRL Indy Pro Series Thread......

Just as in the ChampCar forum there is a thread for the series' Atlantic Championship, here in the IRL forum there will indeed be a thread for their feeder series, the Indy Pro Series.....

Started in 2003, the IPS is the top-rung on the "Road to Indy", so to speak, and despite the seeming paucity of IPS grads in the IndyCar Series, the grids have been healthier than over in the Atlantics' in recent memory, and that should begin to yield dividends over the long run.

Here are the series' past champions from 2002-present......
2002--A.J. Foyt, IV
2003--Mark Taylor
2004--Thiago Medieros
2005--Wade Cunningham
2006--Jay Howard

More information to be added to this thread during the off-season............

Kenn Hardley Racing announced earlier today that they will be campaigning South African racer Stephen Simpson in the IRL Indy Pro Series for 2007. Simpson, born in Poole, England but having spent most of his life calling Cape Town, South Africa home, has competed in both the A1GP series and the ChampCar Atlantic Championship over the past year. Here are some quotes from those involved.......

Kenn Hardley, Owner, Kenn Hardley Racing:
We are elated to have Stephen drive with us for the 2007 season. Stephen is a young talent who we are very impressed with and who has driven in many types of open wheel race cars around the world. I don't believe it will take him long to acclimate himself to the Indy Pro Series or our team. The 24 car has finished second and fourth the last two years with Jeff Simmons and Bobby Wilson, and I believe this will be another banner year for us with Stephen in our car.
*--Simmons finished 2nd in 2005, Wilson 4th in 2006

Stephen Simpson, Kenn Hardley Racing:
I'm very excited about the chance to race in the Indy Pro Series and to join Kenn Hardley Racing for the 2007 season. They are a great team to be with and we will be pushing hard to run up front all year.
