2005 champion returns for 2007

Post by mlittle » Sat Mar 17, 2007 11:44 am

AFS Racing officials announced earlier this week that 2005 Indy Pro Series champion Wade Cunningham will return to the series this year, driving the #25 Automatic Fire Sprinklers Dallara/Infiniti racecar. Adding to the team's decision was AFS's partnership with IndyCar Series team Andretti-Green Racing, which could lead to an IndyCar test for the New Zealand-born Cunningham.

Miami 100 Highlights and Thoughts...........

~~Best wishes on a full recovery........Reminiscent of Kenny Brack's horrific crash at Texas in the fall of 2003, Target/Ganassi's Pablo Perez suffered fractures to both legs and spent hours Sunday in surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital; according to IRL officials, Perez is to be moved to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for further recovery/rehabiliation on Tuesday. :( :(

~~Large field. 25 starters took the grid for the Indy Pro Series race Saturday afternoon, the largest in IPS history.

~~First oval win. Now, don't get me wrong; winning your first race is always a big event. But....to win on an oval, especially if your background is on road courses.......now that's something. Just ask racewinner Alex Lloyd, who is now the early points leader going into the 2-race weekend at St. Pete.
