I repeat you my point:

I (and probably others as well)come to this site to talk about F1... as the site is f1-related and I found half of the new-posts are on other off-topic (as are not F1-related) threads, so i said that loud.

Think in a person (not me) who is interesten in F1, he founds a site named newsonf1.net with a forum, then he clicks arround and found post like those I posted, (about The Atlantic Championship--A Racing Legacy, for example) isn't it offtopic?? woulnd a person interested in The Atlantic Championship go better to http://www.champcarfanatics.com/newsitem.php?id=84 ... as I said, the Internet is big enough for everybody, let's do not make a mess of it... if you look for F1 you want F1 no things like: viewtopic.php?p=15768#15768 ...
do you understand or should i explain better? (poor english here  )

Sgd, I understand your point, but I disagree. Because of the intense interest generated in North American Motorsports via the Patrick-F1 thread(i.e. "Can Danica Patrick make it into F1?"), Ed asked me in a message on 27 June 2005 whether I would be interested in becoming a forum moderator for a new IRL Forum, which I duly accepted. So I don't see where the problem is, sgd...I'm sorry if you disagree w/the fact that there are two seemingly unrelated categories to the NewsOnF1 site, the North American Motorsports and V8 Supercars Categories. If there is a problem, please take it up w/the site admins'.

sgd,

You are in the Champ Car forum and not the Formula 1 forum. mlittle is doing a great job letting the rest of the world what is happening in the US with regards to motorsports.
I have explained this in your Forum Poll thread.

We support those who want to discuss other forms of motorsport here and are more than happy to create forums for them. Several current F1 drivers came from those series (Montoya and Villeneuve to name two) and many past F1 drivers or testers are currently in those series.

sgd, you are entitled to your opinion but please don't ridicule other forms of motorsports. It won't be tolerated.

Sciuto takes maiden pole in Denver

Post by mlittle » Sun Aug 14, 2005 1:16 pm

Apparently, the youth movement continues....17 yr. old Alan Sciuto, driving for PR1 Motorsports, clinched the pole in a soggy, rain-soaked Saturday QS-2 session where no one seemed to either best their Friday QS-1 times or Scuito's. However, he'll be feeling the collective breaths of the Atlantic front-runners at the green tomorrow. Here's a brief look at the top 5 and other notables.

1}Alan Sciuto 1:08.692 secs.
2}Andreas Wirth 1:08.809 secs.
3}Charles Zwolsman 1:08.902 secs.
4}Tonis Kasemets 1:08.962 secs.
5}Katherine Legge 1:09.147 secs.
6}Antoine Bessette 1:09.188 secs.
7}David Martinez 1:09.210 secs.
8}Al Unser 1:10.003 secs.

Now there would be an interesting rivalry....Patrick w/BAR-Honda and Legge w/Williams-Cosworth. My money's on Patrick.

Hey sgd what's the matter ? I can't see anything wrong with reading information on other motorsport categories. I learned more about Patrick from mlittle than from any other resource.
And when she makes it into F1 we will know a lot about her than most

Thanks, JayVee, I appreciate the support. BTW, in case you haven't read....Patrick captured the pole for Sunday's IRL race in Kentucky. Granted, qualifying was rained out, but as she put it, "A pole is a pole."

Rocky Mt. High for Wirth, Rocky Mt. Low for Legge

Post by mlittle » Mon Aug 15, 2005 10:40 am

Just as with the ChampCar race, turn one proved to be the undoing for a few of the Toyota Atlantic competitors. Just ask Katherine Legge; her day ended when she and fellow racer Charles Zwolsman clipped wheels going into the turn. Zwolsman would continue on, while Legge would nurse the car around for an abysmal 16th-place finish. Meanwhile, Andreas Wirth grabbed the point and never let up, leading wire-to-wire. The real battle was for 2-3 between the Flying Dutchman and Tonis Kasemets.

Late in the race, as lapped traffic began to slow Zwolsman down, Kasemets went to the offensive, catching a gap between them and taking down Zwolsman for second. Although he soon caught up to Wirth, he had a late-race spin which dropped him the eighth. Meanwhile, 17-yr. old Alan Sciuto, who became the youngest Atlantics racer to win P1 for an Atlantic race, wound up in second, giving him 2 consecutive top-5 finishes, while Zwolsman settled for third and maintained his lead in the points. Winding up in 4th was Legge's Polestar teammate, Antoine Bessette, while David Martinez finished 5th. Here are the current standings(up to 10th):

1}Charles Zwolsman 268 pts.
2}Andreas Wirth 234 pts.
3}Tonis Kasemets 226 pts.
4}Antoine Bessette 224 pts.
5}Katherine Legge 217 pts.
6}David Martinez 185 pts.
7}Al Unser 154 pts.
8}Chris Dyson 95 pts.
9}Chris Souliotis 91 pts.
10}(tie)Kyle Kelley and Dan Selznick 89 pts.

While the ChampCars have next week off, the Atlantics are headed to historic Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisc. for a joint weekend with the SCCA, the Star Mazda Series and the American LeMans Series.

Atlantics Round 11--Road America

Post by mlittle » Thu Aug 18, 2005 2:53 pm

Well, the ChampCars are taking the week off as they prepare for the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and the Molson Indy Montreal, so their little brethren, the Toyota Atlantics, head to Road America, in scenic :?: Elkhart Lake, Wisc. for the 11th of 12th rounds in this year's championship. With a sizable lead, Dutchman Charles Zwolsman can clinch the series title and the 1-off ride in the ChampCar season finale in Mexico City if he leaves w/a 35+ pt. advantage after this weekend's race. As it stands, it's going to be a very busy Road America paddock, as the Altantics will share the venue with the American LeMans Series, SCCA regional series', Trans-Am road racing series, IMSA GT3, and the Star Mazda Series. Here are some fast facts on this weekend's race.

Layout--4.048 mile road course
Distance--17 laps or 50 minutes
Fast Qualifying Lap--(2004) Ryan Dalziel, 1:59.504 secs.(121.944 mph)
Fast Race Lap--(2001) Jonathan Macri, 2:02.688 secs.(118.779 mph)
Fast Race Time--(1999) Andrew Bordin, 35 mins., 37.944 secs.

Past Winners:1983-Roberto Moreno, 1986-Scott Goodyear, 1990-Jimmy Vasser, 1996-Patrick Carpentier, 1997-Alex Barron, 2000-Buddy Rice, 2004-Ryan Dalziel(notable winners)

So am I. Road America is a lot like Spa, but its' a track where the racers can both race & pass on the track. It's quite a track and I'm a little sad to not see it on ChampCar's schedule this yr.
