The anti Michael argument will come to a close after the next GP. From then on it will be comparisons, statistics and memories.

Kapel, you really do seem to have a personal dislike (putting it mildly) of Alonso. I have never seen him resort to bad tactics. I have seen him frustrated and upset, but mainly at lack of consistancy in the penalties between different drivers and teams.
I have seen him congratulate other drivers, including Michael, when he has been beaten. You are either not watching or don't want to see.
JayVee is a totally devoted Alonso fan but to be fair I have seen her say that if he does something that is against the rules that he should be penalised the same as everyone else.
You are never going to change her mind and she is never going to influence your opinion of Alonso........ so why don't we all just take a chill pill and move on.
Cos I need someone else to be as brutally scarred as me  ,
n I agree with Kappy, in as much as ..........AND YOU HAVE TO READ KAPPY'S POSTS VERY CAREFULLY 8) .........There is scant praise for anyone but Alonso from JayVee, despite some magnificent drives by several others in lesser machinery.
This despite a couple of those other drivers having beaten Alonso in the lower grades, but were not as lucky as Alonso when it came to seats.......and I am not talking about Mark Webber.
The Drivers I now rate as being as good as Alonso, or with as much potential and I use him as the benchmark these days are Kimi, Kubrica, MW, Massa, HK, Hamilton, Schuey and SF's real number one driver
On the other hand some of the praise for Schuey makes me gag.
REB, how is it that you are always content to sit back, til JayVee has taken a dozen hits to the head, and responded with a dozen to her protagonist, then you come steaming in with a wet sail. Jump in early Old Son, the water is fine

Perhaps we should all at this point be reminded of the Posting Guidelines .

I refer mainly to the following.......
People come here to have fun, to have healthy discussions, to cheer for their favourite driver and team.
and...
Members should respect other users when posting. Flaming or abusing users in any way will not be tolerated. This not only offends the user concerned but can cause others not to post and that goes against our purpose.
Same applies to Formula 1 teams and drivers

If you enjoy flaming and abusing others, this in not the place for you and you are not welcome here.
:D :D :D Lighten up and enjoy a difference in opinion without attacking someone for having a different perspective to you... and then everyone can enjoy it.

Wow some comments from a few

Let me make it clear that it is up to me who, what and when I praise someone. It is so obvious that I am a big fan of Alonso and I will surely praise him more than the others. It is only natural and that doesn't mean the other drivers are crap. Big Michael fans or Raikkonen or Webber or Coulthard or whoever, they are the ones who should be praising their drivers not me. (Same applies for a Swans fan, a Liverpool fan or a Miami Heat fan)
And to correct those comments that I don't praise others, go look at many of my race comments and you will see me praising the good drives of other drivers. The last race in Japan I praised Kimi and Button, in Germany I said this of other drivers:
" Raikkonen was impressive and he was my driver of the day. He did plenty of overtaking and pushed to get back into 3rd.
Button was impressive too especially in the early part of the race.
Webber was also impressive and it is a pity that he had to retire. Like many though as he did overtake, he was overtaken too. That is what happens on this kind of track when you have different fuel loads.

Ralf deserves a mention, he gets going after stuffing up his race and others. Then you'll see him fighting - for nothing I might add! "

The only driver I don't have much time for is Michael as to me he is unsportsman and I don't really care how impressive he does in a race, I may say good for him or something like that but not more.
I will never forget Jerez '97

To me Alonso has that extra bit above the rest, many agree but many also disagree. I don't want to nor do I expect to change anyone's opinion, I think a true F1 fan follows a driver after they seem them perform and not because of a comment made by someone. I became hooked on Alonso since his performance in Bahrain 2004 and I will remain a big fan of his as long as he races in an honourable way

And thanks jacfan for your last post. I wish everyone can stick to that

The only problem I have with all of the above is imho, that you will not tolerate a single adverse word about Alonso and respond, again imho, by attacking the persona of the one who dares to post such a comment, usually by inferring that such a person is an idiot, a liar, or both.
Similarly, if I for one, dare praise Webber, my post is personified and met with derision.
And if I may be so bold, I suggest you read jacfans post again, from a different angle.
Let me make it clear that it, as it is with you, it is also up to me as to whom what and when I choose to praise, or deride, someone who chooses to make his or her career in the public cauldron which is Formula One.
IMHO you would deny me or anyone else that right if the subject is Alonso.

That is your HO but it sounds like you want to start/restart an argument as I very much disagree with the generalising tone of your post.

However, I've decided some time ago not to respond to your accusations. Just want to say (IMHO) in the future Julian support anything contorversial you claim with facts, it strengthens your case and it helps prevent
(and sorry for using your own words) "argumentative, confrontational posting will only serve to dissuade others from joining us, and furthering a robust, informed, educational, topical forum"

But don't worry although it would be very tempting, getting out an angry reponse from me in response to a post from you will never happen again.
(There you go, if you ever felt that I deny you the right to say anything about Alonso    , go for it )
