Gee, I expected McLaren to say
"Yes we were in new about the Ferrari data, that's why we protested their floor!!Yes we knew where the data was, and some of our top people examined it very carefully, but it was never at McLaren!!!
That would have been dangerous. If McL admitted to so much as sniffing at the data the FIA would have found a reason to penalize them...
T'was me being ironic at me worst

"Nigel Stepney emailed McLaren's chief designer Mike Coughlan on the eve of the season to tip him off about Ferrari's movable floor design, this week's Autosport magazine reveals"

Email  what an idiot, doesnt he know it's a broadcast medium.

It would appear that Mclarens protest against Ferraris floor design was derived from this email. Of course Coughlan would have only had to whisper in someones ear and they would have no idea where the information came from so they may still avoid penalty. I certainly hope so, as a confirmed red supporter I have no desire whatsoever to see the championship decided in an FIA boardroom. Despite what a lot of people say, I doubt very much Ferrari want it that way either, but if Stepney has been leaking their IP they have to act.

Speaking of red, did anyone notice the new Ferrari red, much better thatn the dayglo methinks.

There may be more to the story than we get to read about... I feel like watching an average soap opera.
