You should see the changes they made to the track to accomodate the IndyCar series. They got rid of the gravel traps going into turn 1(adding a hugh swath of tarmac on the outside of the turn and adding more tire-walls), added additional runoff areas at the "inner loop"(chicane right before a 150-160 deg. corner leading to the boot section, and more gravel traps w/in the boot section, especially in that downhill section known as the heel(look at a track map and you'll catch why they call it that). It's a great track, julian, and if their test session proved anything, it showed that, once again, open-wheel racing belongs there.

You know, julian, somehow I knew you'd mention that. Seriously, though, if F1 ever returned to the Glen, they'd have to add more catch-fencing and update the paddock to F1 standards. Other than that, they could return this year and run the USGP better than the farce at Indy back in mid-June.

sure we can have the USGP at the Glen. I would love to see back at the Glen. Who is going to put up the money Bernie will want to make the track up to his standards. He is still going after Silverstone.
Go Danica the best thing to happen to american open wheel racing in a long time.

My thoughts exactly, sable. Danica's one of the best things to happen in american open-wheel racing for a long time.

Someone like Red Bull should help her move into F1. She has the skills she just needs the backing.
Danica, the best thing that has happened to American open wheel racing in a long time!!!

Sable, you should read some of the postings on this thread concerning whether Danica Patrick can make it into F1, especially the ones from me(mlittle) and julian_mayo's. I think we've already agreed that she is one of the best American open-wheel racers to come down the pike, so to speak.

Thank you, tim. Julian, JayVee, Rah, the IRL forum is now officially open for business. As a result, I will be posting the qual. and race summaries from Rd. 8 of the IndyCar Series--The Argent Mortgage Indy 300, over at that forum under the 2005 IRL Race Previews thread(that way, this thread will be freed up for its' intended purpose, to discuss whether Danica Patrick can make it into Formula 1). Come on over and visit the IRL Forum; y'all won't be disappointed.
