He was on a flyer when Doornbos was ahead and didn't move out of the way quickly, he waved his hand, weaved accross and when he got ahead slowed down in front of Doornbos. So the best Alonso can hope for is 9th on the grid
Alonso was absolutely stunning at the start of the Hungarian GP last year. He will win it. Trust me!

10 minutes into the Saturday practice session and Alonso and Yamamoto have set lap times.

Alonso is out early and that is mainly due to the penalty he will take in qualifying. He is probably trying out different fuel loads so they can play with the strategy.

Ed,
How does Alonso's penalty work exactly. Is he able to do two quick laps in each segment of qualfying then effectively use the slower of the two laps as the time penalty is only applied to his fastest lap?

I don't think it works that way. I think they will add 2 second to his best time for each session he takes part in. Otherwise they would have said they'll delete his best or two best times.

This hasn't happened before so we'll see!

Klien second ahead of Button and Coulthard.

From Alonso's times, it appears he is doing low fuel runs.
