Sunday weather updated to afternoon showers and thunderstorms. It could be a question of when they'll arrive.

The 1st Friday practice session is underway.
Albers is the first man out onto the track followed by Klien, Wurz and Montagny. Yes Montany who is Renault's test and reserve driver will on Fridays for the Jordan team from this race.

Air temperature is at 26 degrees while the track temperature is at 40!

Klien who is again the 3rd driver for Red Bull here is also on a timed lap and so is Montagny

Zonta improves with a 1:35.358. Wurz goes second fastest with a 1:35.495. Klien moves into 3rd with a 1:38.239 while Montagny goes 4th with a 1:40.248. It will be interesting to hear a comparison between the Jordan and the Renault from Montagny!

For reference, the best time on the 1st Friday session last year was a 1:29.447 by Anthony Davidson (BAR 3rd driver)

Wurz now goes fastest with a 1:34.592.
Montagny improves in the Jordan with a 1:39.479. Pretty impressive given that Franck has never driven the Jordan

Button is out on the track for an installation lap. It is good to see BAR Honda back after a 2 race ban.

Montagny improves with a 1:39.146.
Ferrari, Renault, Williams and Toyota have yet to send out any of their drivers out!

As you say that, Monteiro has set a 1:41.140, that is 2 seconds slower than Montagny. Yes they will have to step up a gear especially Monteiro!!

He just has
Monteiro now a 1:39.371 just behind Montagny
What is it with names starting with Mont this year ? We have three of them in F1 ?
