The Williams F1 team and ahead of their 2006 car launch have confirmed that Narain Karthikeyan will be the teams fourth driver in 2006. He will carry out testing duties alongside Mark Webber, Nico Rosberg and Alex Wurz.

Sir Frank Williams said:
Narain?s brief period in the car in December, during which he provided valuable feedback, made a very distinct impression on our engineers. Having a year?s GP racing and testing to his credit is also advantageous for us so I am pleased we can now formally confirm his appointment to the team
Narain Karthikeyan said:
It has taken some while to resolve what I would be doing for 2006, but having tested for Williams late last year, joining the team was the best option for me and I am delighted that we can finally confirm this today. I am looking forward to testing the FW28 and making a contribution to Williams? competitiveness this season

Karthikeyan is a talented driver, guys, otherwise stingy Sir Frank would not have tested him. I know I am gonna take heat for this remark, but so what. I've been watching this sport for 30+ years now, and I took heat for believing in Alan Jones, Didier Pironi, Keke Rosberg, Alain Prost, Michele Alboreto, all the way up to Fernando Alonso.

BTW: Narain is getting paid to test. This is why most drivers choose to do it.
