The Hungarian Grand Prix stewards have summoned several members of the McLaren team including Ron Dennis, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton over the delaying tactic which Alonso appeared to have done towards the end of the session.
If Alonso is found guilty of delibaratly delaying Hamilton he could be stripped of some or all his qualifying times.

This is the second year in a row that Alonso is involved in an incident during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend.
Last year he was penalised for intentionaly brake testing Doornbos in practice.

According to Ron Dennis, it was Lewis Hamilton who has triggered the problems in qualifying. Hamilton was told to let Alonso through at the start of Q3 so he can get in an extra lap. Hamilton decided not to and this caused the drivers to be out of sequence.
Now this doesn't really explain why Alonso stayed in the pits for 10 seconds after the lolipop was raised. Alonso and Dennis have said that the team gives the order to go out and it is the race engineer who counts down for the driver.
It doesn't clearly explain why Dennis threw his headset on the pit wall nor does it explain the exchange of words with Alonso's personal trainer.
On watching the replay again Dennis did not talk to Hamilton when Hamilton got out of his car at the end of qualifying even though they passed each other. This would indicate that Dennis wasn't too happy with Hamilton.

Ron Dennis annointed himself... ask the people who were around after Bruce died.

Alonso loses 5 place on the grid while McLaren will not score any Constructors points.
A statement by the stewards found the actions of the team prejudicial to the interests of the competition
The actions of the team in the final minutes of qualifying are considered prejudicial to the interests of the competition and to the interests of motor sport generally.
The penalty to be applied is that such points in the 2007 Formula One constructors championship as accrue to the team as a result of their participation in the 2007 Hungarian Grand Prix will be withdrawn.
The stewards also found that Alonso unecessrily impeded another driver
Because of the delay caused by Alonso, Hamilton was unable to complete his pit stop in time sufficient to enable him also to complete a flying lap.
The stewards find that he unneccessarily impeded another driver, Hamilton, and as a result he will be penalised by a loss of five grid positions.

I do recall posting, pre-season, that there was a rumour that Ferrai and Massa would win the titles this year, if a certain Senior Figure in the sports governing body could influence it in any way

McLaren have decided to appeal the stewards decision to strip them of any points they could score in the race in Hungary. McLaren will race under appeal pending a hearing by the International Court of Appeal. Alonso's 5 place demotion cannot be appealed.

Okay, I have had an aspro, and a cup of tea, but I am far too agitated for a little lie down.
Would someone please explain the FIA's logic.
Alonso impedes Hamilton. Gets demoted to 6th. McLaren cannot score constuctors points from his entry. That I can live with.
Hambone was wronged. Gets promoted to pole. McLaren cannot score points from his entry.!

What the?!
So McLaren get no points regarding how the race pans out? If this is true it'll make the race a lot more interesting i guess
(also does this mean that they can't score drivers championship points aswell?)

If I'm reading this correctly, the FIA's decision following qualifying goes as follows.......
~~Alonso, instead of starting from pole, will start 6th(Hamilton will start from P1)
~~both Alonso and Hamilton will be allowed to score points towards the drivers' championship should they finish P8 or better; however, McLaren
will not be able to count those points towards the constructors' title
