The Seth Efrikens are on the slippery slope without Nelson Mandella managing their affairs they have no direction. And Hansi has chronic back hand fatigue

Were they in a 20-20 mode????

One of the most thrilling matches ever p[layed in the history of One day International...

In the last century, a score of 275 was considered defendable...300 was VOW,match over for the team batting 2nd...

Nearing the start of the 21st Century, the game has changed drastically.A score of 300 was set every now & then, but never been chased, teams coming close to the target but not chasing it..until India successfully chased Pakistan's score of 314 in Bangladesh....Then Australia followed chasing South Africa's score of 330,then Pakistan chasing a few.But then again the bowlers bounced back for 2 years until the famous Natwest final between England seeting a target of 325 for India, which was then chased by the 2 newcomers to the game - Yuvraj Singh & Mohd. Kaif after India being down for 150/5 in 29 overs.

More chases followed from then on...the next bench mark was 350 to be chased...which Pakistan came close in 2003-04 series in Karachi but fell short by 6 runs...Then last year the highest 2nd inning chase was done by New Zealand against the Australians at Christchurch...Everyone said the reason was small grounds in New Zealand..But hey chasing that target is still a mental block , rgt?!

Srilankans held the record of highest 1st innings score of 398 against Kenya for a decade...(yes thats when the Srilankan were on a high & Kenyan's grounds were really small & their team....)

The next target once the Power Play rule was introduced was to reach 400!! or a double century by a batsman...

Yes this was insight....with the batting wickets prepared nowadays for ODI's..very much possible...

So on 12th March 2006 , the final ODI of the series between Australia & South Africa, the 5 match series poised at 2-2, Australia, helped by their captain-Ricky Ponting set SA a record breaking 434 in 50 overs... 400 hundred was achieved...a target set which was approx 80-90 runs more than any team had scored in the 2nd innings....Pretty safe to defend & take the series rgt???..I think every person watching the match were awed just by the shere score of 434 & i'm sure, not for a sec,did any1 imagine what the next part of the innings had instored for them....

YES, South Africa won by one wicket.....

434 runs chased in ODI

It is actually quite funny, because we were joking about that while we were watching.......

Imagine the scene if Ntini were to get run out with 1 run to win  He would've been the most hated man in South Africa.....
