Michael's car had a vibration and the team chose to stop him until they find out the problem.

We?ve now got to find out where that was coming from. It was there with both sets of tyres so they don?t seem
to be the problem.

Geez, he was bloody quick!
I was young and impresionable, he looked as a F1 should look. A little chubby, smoking and getting the job done.

He was an obvious talent, made it to F1 and did not really happen. Was acidently signed up by Williams and performed miracles.

Winning the WDC that season, with that car should not be possible. Circumstances happend so that it was. We lost Gilles for ever, we lost Didier for F1. But there was no way that a Cosworth Powered driver were to take the WDC in 1982.

His win in Monaco 1983 was all that a win should be. I had talked the Monaco Grand Prix up all week to my co-workers in my after school job, they all turned the Tv on on that Sunday and the one driver I had told them about performed miracles. I recall him as being more than a full minute in front by the end of lap 2.

He was a true racer, giving it his all every singel time. In todays cars, he would likely not really shine. He would I think be compareable to Montoya. Speed galore, but not the finesse needed to realy moutn a WDC challenge, wins on occasion and other times falling of trying.

Prost and McLaren sowed him that he was not in the league of prost, but that does not make him anything less in my eyes.

With a little different luck he would have led the WDC at mid-season 1983 as well. A DQ in Brazil, and being bumped out in Long Bach could have been a second and a win.

Keke ruled!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8)
I remember him finessing a "pig " to wins
todays cars would bore him stupid, the drivers have so little imput, the race parameters are decided for them by the pit boss, before and during the race. There is some grainy old footage of a bloke called Denny Hulme
in a ? Repco Brabham ? at Monaco. I forget the corner, it is,was, an uphill get as far to the left as possible, gun it, and pick up the apex of the next just so!
They put a camera on this corner, and recorded the space between the rearmost part of each car, and the wall (armco?)
Every driver but one was 2 to 3 fingers off touching. Denny was a cigarette paper off....every lap........and drifting (sliding) the car into that corner, ....every lap....except the last..he actually brushed it...won the race and the WDC.....Keke was of the same mould. He enterained
As did Giles. As did Piers. As did Senna.

Noooo, not the tyres! Mr, Ferrari himself is now saying that F1 is a tyre race, not a car race. To me thats" BOO HOO, we make the very fast car but our drivers can't race because the tyres are no good" Well, here is a thought. If Ferrari, and Bridgestone had looked after the other teams on the same rubber, and shared the good black ovals equally Schumy would probably be well on his way to another boring title  And off I would be going to watch the bloody F1 boats, Wellys n all!( boats are for 'chuting' into, catching fish off. and "hurling" out of.)

Technology in F1 is vast and also used to gauge many things during testing and the race weekend. In Monaco 1988, the lap simulator calculated that the fastest and most perfect lap around the streets would be 1:25.300.

Alain Prost managed a qualifying lap time of 1:25.425, 125 thousandth's off the perfect lap, so basically, Prost had achieved the perfect lap to within, less than a blink of an eye. This time set Prost on pole position and it was over 1 second quicker than Berger's Ferrari.

Many had settled for Prost's time as pole, though Senna was still to qualify. Senna had this innate skill, believe and ability to know what he can achieve. Senna left the pits and his 1st lap, Senna did not manage to beat Prost's time, but came awfully close. Senna's 2nd lap beat Prost's time and it could have been argued that the 1:25.376 was the closest to the perfect lap any driver would be, only 76 thousandth's off. Senna could have stopped, since he would have been informed of his lap time and need not continue, but he did three more laps, 1:25.100, 1:24.500 and 1:23.998. Those three laps were quicker each time by ? second. Senna's qualifying (and pole position) time was a little under 1? seconds quicker than Prost and a little over 1? seconds quicker than the perfect lap!
...
Later, Senna would describe the series of laps as peaceful, and trance like. On his fifth lap he knew it was time to stop. He could go no faster...

That was an apart from here: http://ajmerphull.com/formula1/ayrton_senna/senna.html :
SGD, I believe that Senna had the ability to go into a part of the brain that we all have,, but rarely use. Further he could do it at will. I have found the ability to do, to me, amazing things, under duress, and with the aid of adrenalin on many occasions. But, 3 times in my life I have have found myself observing things in SUPER SLOW MOTION whilst reacting, and acting faster than I would have ever considered possible, Far faster than the other times, and everything was as moving as if coated in treacle.
It is my belief that Senna could do this at will.
I have known soldiers who could

No PT talks here please.V r done with that when everyone was "Getting started"in this forum.

Lets just enjoy the races, support our fav. drivers & teams.Appreciate the winners performance & rookies  (Stupid Narain brushed the barrier :furious: ,told him not to eat bananas & talk to Tendulkar)

Renault & Mclaren(yes Montoya!! :D ) look very strong here.Alonso in particular.Red Bull is a suprise, but i think they must b super lite to impress the sponsors

Saturday would show us other teams getting close(especially Toyota & Ferrari).Poor Ralf gets a penalty for no fault of his :(

Hoping for an exciting race.

Yes I agree with Kapel here (the red and silver supporter  ), blatant PT doesn't exist except in a certain team, hidden PT may exist in other certain teams

Take it easy on Narain, he is a rookie and it is his first time so don't raise expectation too much. Friesacher is good it seems while Albers obviously doesn't like this track!

Alonso The Cute, well what did I say ? He'll continue dominating and Montoya will be ahead of Raikkonen

Toyota and Ferrari catching, why ? Trulli can't find grip and Barrichello is dreading qualifying

Red Bull fast! Of course the force was with them! They used it on the wrong day though

For Narain,i know its his first time in Monaco-a difficult race for any rookie. But atleast avoid the barrier if you cant go faster on ur first outing :(

By Toyota & Ferrari improving , i meant they would fill up the the top 8 after the 2 Mclaren & 2 Renault(U can choose the order  ) with mayb Webber there somewhere(williams seems to be struggling, sorry Julian)

Yeah looks like Red Bull used all their powers on Thursday.
