Seems "Stepney-Gate" keeps widening out ever more........

I haven't been following the above much, so bear with me on this one........IIRC, this all started with one disgruntled Ferrari engineer, Nigel Stepney, allegedly passing classified Ferrari data(over 700+ pages if I'm not mistaken) to McLaren chief engineer Mike Coughlin(who might've gotten away with the data had there not been an attempt to photocopy the data near McLaren HQ.....).....then it widened out to include Honda(how is beyond me, Honda has enough problems of their own; they don't need more....... ) and now McLaren's drivers(Alonso, Hamilton, de la Rosa) have been enveloped in this saga as well......

The last part's the most intriguing....I can understand de la Rosa being involved(as the team's lead test driver, he could be in a spot to understand how to turn Ferrari data into McLaren-usable info for testing and other purposes); I can vaguely understand Alonso being involved(as McLaren's lead race driver, he would potentially be in a position to use de la Rosa's testing info for McLaren's benefit during race weekends); I can't see how Hamilton's involved, so I give Hamilton the benefit of the doubt on this one. Maybe I'm wrong here, but given what information is available(and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this), it sounds as though the FIA is trying to get Alonso to "flip" on de la Rosa and testify against de la Rosa as to what information they may or may not know.....then once that's done, try to get de la Rosa to "roll" on Coughlin and Stepney.

All-in-all, that WMSC hearing set for this week should be a very, very interesting hearing.

The WMSC hearing is still ongoing and it is taking longer than expected.

Information at this stage indicates that all three McLaren drivers declared they did not use or know about the Ferrari information that Coughlan had.

Stay tuned

Im hearing some of the same rumors, Julian.......problem at the moment is finding accurate information; for instance, autosport ran a headline saying that McLaren had been expelled from the championship for 2007 and 2008, then turned around and said that those reports were premature.....

Currently, what everyone seems to be saying is that McLaren will be punished for Stepney-Gate.........but right now, if they've decided on what that punishment is, nobody's talking yet.......
