Go figure
That guy to which you are referring was a great racer and champion. He won the Indy 500, the CART title, and a Formula 1 World Championship. That puts him in the company of Mario Andretti and Emerson Fittipaldi. Take away the CART title, and he is in the company of Jim Clark and Graham Hill. Not too shabby, eh?

You can't really compare his F1 debut with Lewis Hamilton's as he stepped into a Formula 1 car a CART champion (the only fair comparison might be Juan Pablo Montoya). However, you can compare Hamilton's entrance with Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, Stefan Bellof, Michele Alboreto, Alain Prost, and Nelson Piquet. All were wicked good straight out of the box.

Ridiculous, really.
He has complained about BMW :!:

Ron says that BMW was just Showboating and ruined McLarens chance of a good race. (As if 2nd and 3rd isn't a good result)
What were BMW thinking, imagine Heidfeld starting a race on the soft compound and staying ahead of the M's for the first stint, how absurd :!:
Just a dumb show off :!:

So was Kimi also showboating by being in front of them :?:
Oh, sorry, my mistake, his car was red so they must be cheating.

By the way do I have to mention that if MICHAEL had been in FERNANDOs place or both MCLAREN guys at FERRARI many folks on this forum would have claimed there was an application of team order?? Oh maybe there was team order - at FERRARI(probably due to a phone call from MICHAEL or a passage in his contract to guarantee KIMI the famous No.1 status :-))))
First I agree with you about Ron's complaints. He should first verify if they are indeed doing something illegal.

As for the team order business, well if you think there was then say it. Don't try to twist it around.
I do hope that Ferrari don't apply team orders and that is why I don't really mind if they win cause it will be on equal terms.

Kimi won, I thought that would be drive of the day for most of us. But he had the pole; he is, therefore, by some wierd science, EXPECTED to win. If he doesn't it's proof he was lucky to win all those other races he won. If he does, ho hum. What about poor Felipe? On a track where it is hard for Fernando to get round Lewis, Felipe still managed to score points. No one picked him for drive of the day either.

Same went for Michael. Same will go, now, for Fernando. In fact, if he hasn't won a race by June, (not an impossibility, even if it is improbable) people will be saying it was the Renault that won those WDC's FOR him.

Never mind that Fisi was in the same car; never mind that Fisi is in one now. And not making lovable Flavio too happy.

Indeed, given how well the McLaren was running, who's to say Heikki couldn't have scored a podium had he been in that seat rather than his unfortunate Yellow one? Nobody gets to F1 with out a rather impressive skill set. Even Ralphie has a collection of trophies.

Just keep posting "back to back WDC" in front of Fernando's name. It'll drive your critics mad. It won't however, improve the quality of their pole n' 8 picks!

Cheers

Let me say this......In Your Dreams

Having said that, you will now have dreams/nightmares about Alonso, you, the Guy who bought fish n chips, smiled n walked to the blue ute, Nimbusess with 7 Litre motor n 8 speed sequential gearboxes.........
In my dream MW is drafted in to Fisi's seat as soon as the Circus hits Europe, and being the hard man he is (Aussie Rules does that to you) qualifies third at every race, and Massa n Kimi clear out, while the BMWs try to get around a full tank Renault on a one stopper.
By the way........Too much salt is not good

Renault will have to wait and see how Kovalainen turns out before giving Fisi the boot. If the Finn proves to be okay your dream may come true.

Too late for this...but it took a little while to switch from the disastarous Indian campaign in the World cup...Back to F1..

Much awaited and much anticipated clash between the Ferrari's & Mclaren's turned out to be too blah...Ferrari,to my suprise is really quick, will all the changes behind the scene in the technical department and a revolutionary new design(Longer wheelbase?).I always thought Mclaren's where sandbagging during test...but no so..

Kimi drove,as he does, given the car...superbly fast...n the car did hold out, suprisingly, seeing wht happend to poor Felipe. How does an F1 driver manage to sleep when he's driving at 300kmph? (i do at 30kmph,but with 7 vodka tonics  )

Hamilton, pretty impressive, good drive,clam,quick..but need more race time to be "there".Learning when to push, save tyres & handling backmarkers...will give him that.

Alonso, must have got a shock with the launch control of the Mclaren.(oops not a Renault).Poor start but a very good race.Calm & Controlled.Alonso is double WDC,he knows how to handle the car, managed those tyres in the race,& one the reasons he saved an extra lap of fuel behind Hamilton.Saved the best tyres for the last stint unlike Hamilton.N for sure,Alonso is quicker than Hamilton at this moment,no comparison...but the new bloke is quick too..he needs racetime to come closer to his team mate.

Felipe..oh poor Felipe...could have been on the podium, probably a winner or runners up...But one thing i noticed about him was the inability to pass the slower cars with star drivers easily...which could hamper his progress this season..hopefully he'll learn.

BMW needs a driver who can believe, they can go for it...Toyota for my suprise did well.
The most exiciting though scary moment was the Red Bull getting wings...Luckyly it got a little extra wings which saved Wurz life.

Green Honda will go alowly around the track to preserve the earth with lesser emission

Looks like a fight between Ferrari & Mclaren..if Ferrari hold intact..
Hope to see a 3-way-fight for this year's WDC ..Kimi-Alonso-Massa :!:

That dream ain't comin' true 'cuz even if Fisico may not be a Fernando Alonso, he is definitely the most consistent point scorer out there whether or not he ever proves to be a title contender. The team gets its travel money out of Uncle Bernie by their ability to score points. Fisico is also a great tester. So more than likely he will stay.

At one time I had a lot of hope for him, he has undeniable ability...he just doesn't seem to be able to put it all together consistantly......I am starting to think he is flattered by the Car. Flavio is not happy with him. That does not bode well.

MW wont fit in the Renault, he is too tall!............mmmmm...............maybe thats why Flav has asked the Renault guys working on the B spec with longer wheelbase.
Sounds like a good dream though JM

I suppose that anything you would like to see happen in the future would be classified as a dream but really, it is very possible and very probable that Alonso The Cute wins his 3rd Championship this year. With the Ferrari less reliable and the McLaren more reliable, Alonso needs to finish on the podium for the next 4 or 5 race and he'll be leading the championship. After that the 2 cars will be similar on pace then he'll be unstoppable :D

After the Melbourne qualifying I would have agree with you that Webber has a possible and probable chance of jumping into the Renault but after that race perfomance I think Flavio would be having second thoughts :(

But who would want to jump into the Renault anyway ?
Melbourne proved what the Renault can do MINUS Alonso ..... :conf3: :maths:

BTW: It is funny how you now completely ignore the McLaren's!!

The Ferrari will be more, not less reliable, otherwise FIAT will sack the entire marque  .
The McLaren's what?? Sorry, apostrophe man held a gun at my head, and made me type this :oops
:
IMHO

And based rather loosely around historical data of the Formula.

The Ferraris have about a .04 improvement, plus a Kimi improvement of, say, .02....by seasons end. net gain... point.06 per lap..that is not factoring in the Ferrari/Bridgestone advantage of a wet race.....(Jeez, what I would give to chuck Therapy around Marinello with the sprinklers on.....A powerful ute on a wet track.....better than......as good as......well nearly as good as....... a Kebab at 3 am.
The McLarens will at best match that as they learn about Bridgestones.
BMW will, with their HUGE technological advantage, improve by at least .08 per lap by seasons end, with the drivers both capable of handling that.
That puts McLaren under threat, for points, especially when they can run the soft tyre for the first long run on full tanks....I think the BMW must be as sweet to drive as the Renault was 2 years ago.......
Hamilton will take points fron Alonso......"saving tyres" is driver B.ll for "I could not pass him".....Okay, it worked in Melbourne as Denis used it to say thanks to Alonso's sponsors.
But we are talking about a Kid that Denis has been backing for a long, long time....it is Denis' personal reputation at stake........His personal DREAM would surely be a one/two at every race, with Alonso in second place.
Red Bull will improve by as much as 1 second by season end, which is going to throw a qualifying cat amongst the pigeons, and hamper anyone from grid four down....
Scenario........
Grid.after Qaulifying
Massa.........Kimmi
Kubica(Light on softs)........Webber(light on softs)
Hamilton......Alonso
Heidfield......Ralf (Running light, on softs)

Alonso simply does not get the chance to strike at the Ferraris....in this scenario second is the very best he can hope for......and I believe this a real grid chance....more than once.

I believe there are three brilliant drivers in F1 now.
Alonso.....brilliant, with luck on his side (And any Driver needs luck.......if his car had the problems that Fisi's had........)
Kimi..........just so bloody fast.
I really do not believe he is a car breaker.
He and Alonso remind me of Jack Brabham and Stirling Moss. Stirling set many records, Jack won the odd title.........luck is a fickle Lady.
Webber....he quite simply qualifies cars into postions that stagger all the team managers, pit crews, broadcasters, his team mates, other drivers, flaggies, ambos, Bernice, me,........and often with a lot more fuel than is supposed by all the experts. He has done it too often, with too many "buckets of bolts", to be described as anything else.
Even Schumaker learned to pull on the reins, rather than try to chuck it down the inside, when the gap wasn't there.
And the racecraft he has garnered beating around in the mddle of the pack or worse, compared to racing one or two other car......Hell's Bells.....Ralf keeps missing him these days !!!
He has beaten Alons on the odd occasion, did you know?
All the above is the personal opinion of the Scribe, and in no way reflects the opinions of the station management, who are now taking to the bunkers with flak jackets, tin helmets........and forgot to lock the F1 Idiots Bar.
