Good race but would have preferred Alonso to score some points. Hopefully it will make for a good finish to the season.

I kinda rate drives on how long a driver spends at 9 tnths 10 tnths, and a hundred n 11eventy 11ths.......where you feel that if you brake 1 millimetre later your eyeballs are going to leave their sockets. Kubitc(z)a did that til the race settled. His pit Boss, imho, would have been saying "breathe, breathe"
There is data on drivers, who in a 1:01 lap dont breathe for 49 seconds (V8Supercar, Medical Research, Something.something...Skaife is the main culprit). The big "K" imho, went banzai, in the first 2 laps, then "chilled"

FELIPE - from hero to zero? Come on, its not as simple. He didnt come out too well on strategy, and could have finished anywhere between 3rd and 5th without FERNANDOs engine blow.

My driver of the day is MICHAEL because it was near impossible to beat KIMI this time(proofs: quali, lap times, my opinion).

Of course ROBERT was fantastic and so was FERNANDO moving up to 3rd. However he made a clear mistake in a chicane when he almost took himself and ROBERT out of the race! No comments on this because it wasnt MICHAEL??

JENSON and RUBENS drove as good as possible with the car at hand while NICK and FELIPE were just unlucky this time.

MARK moved up to 10th, not bad but thats for Julian to write home about...

Jayvee, I agree with you that FERNANDOs 5-place penalty was ru66ish but dont forget MICHAEL had been put 21 places back in Monaco...

Cant wait for Shanghai but anything than titles for MICHAEL and FERRARI would surprise me greatly. Hope the fight goes down to the wire though.

Very good point well made, I for one am looking forward to the banzia overtaking that is now perfectly legitimate as long as your car is in front before the bend you can just shoot through on whatever line is appropriate or achievable. That will make F1 a lot more interesting.

If proof were needed of how senile and demented the FIA are they have just clarified the issue beyond doubt. Max et al should be arrested for contravention of every convention that has ever been ratified by Geneva or any socially minded institution.

Re.the chicane issues, I was just referring to my impression, that if MICHAEL had made FERNANDOs mistake, it would have been an issue on here....Wonder if anybody would have commented on it, had FERNANDO really taken himself and ROBERT out of the race? Watch the replay, it might have been only a few mm plus ROBERTs excellent reaction that saved the moment...

But I can only say the same of FERNANDO as I did of MICHAEL in similar situations - the guys drive on the limit and thats what we love them for!

I agree with Julien & Jay Vee both! How can that have come about? Must have been a heck of a race, eh?

I agree, too, with whoever it was that voted for Michael as drive of the day! There's so much talk about grace under pressure, and I find it hard to find greater pressure than to know, ahead of time, that you'll be announcing your retirement at the end of the race. And then to go out and take on Kimi AND Fernando AND Felipe AND Giancarlo AND -- well, you get the point. It would be very easy to lose focus and let go.

Not Michael. As he said in his post race remarks, he always focuses on winning. Of course that's why he's so unpopular. That damned focus. Sometimes it leads to parking at Rascasse, or teeboning another driver's chances. (And wouldn't it be poetic justice for Fernando to find a way to take Michael out in China? Even, of course, if he takes himself out, he still wins. Of course, he has to find a way to make it look like a "racing incident.")

But still, he drove a perfect race and ended on the top step. Kubica was, no doubt, brilliant. But third. Felipe? I don't know what THAT was about, does anyone? Not being able to pass Kubica? Did the Ferrari have some kind of rev limiter or too much wing? I know BMW has plenty of grunt, but come on! And how come Fernando took so long to catch up to Felipe? What was THAT about? I'm guessing that Monza, being a flat out place, rewards breaking and curb-riding. I know that Michael's good at that, and so is Kimi. Apparently much better than ANYone else! But, as someone pointed out, since the television folks were so in love with the Red Cars we didn't get any kind of RACING coverage and so have to guess what the hell was happening. (Oh if only Bernie E. could be sent down by Lucca DeM as Michael was! Wouldn't F1 be the richer for it?)

Finally, Snowy was dead on about the FIA!! I think the initials are coming to stand for something obscene. Several options come to mind and knowing this is a family list, I'll keep them to meself. But come ON: I mean, really, "Unintentional Blocking"!!??!! What's next, "Unsportsmanlike Speeding"? How can you penalize someone for something that he didn't INTEND to do, and, in fact, didn't MANAGE to do, simply on the say-so of someone driving a red car? It's no excxuse that it's Monza --unless the same is allowed for Renault's in France and Beamer's and Mercs in Germany. And when that happens, who will be tuning in to watch?

Luckily, though, in spite of all the efforts to prevent it, Monza 2006 was another bell-ringer of a race.

Remember those dreary days a few seasons back, during the red-car parade, which, for a season at least, was only varied by changing the car colors to blue and yellow? Now it looks like racing again! And I love it!

Hey F1greyhound, please don't compare what the stewards declare as intentional blocking with unintentional blocking.

Alonso was fighting against the clock so it is so much nonsense that he blocked Massa.

Anyway he moved from 10th to 3rd before his engine blew. I think whatever may have happened his engine would have blown. He was just unlucky as Renault have very reliable engines and tested this engine spec in Monza a week ago.

As for Alonso's mistake, well he was trying to overtake and braked too late and didn't make the chicane. Yes he just avoided Kubica by inches maybe but in the end the stewards (and all due to the infinite wisdom of Mr. Whiting) have declared that such moves are OK.

Michael in Hungary was on the wrong tyres and his mistake was not to let Heidfeld and de la Rosa go. Had he done so, he would be leading the championship now but he blew it

Wait to see Michael in China and I hope Jim picks Alonso again

Thats the thing with intentions and "unintentions", sometimes they are hard to prove.

An unintentional blocking as for the FIA stewards means that a driver blocks another driver by occupying the race line and not going full speed. As I said before I didnt feel this was the case with FERNANDO slowing down FELIPE. But it is something that happens in many quali sessions.

As for intentional "blocking" we have definitely seen it from FERNANDO against ROBERT in Hungary and it happens here and there. MICHAEL was sentenced in Monaco without 100% evidence. If you watch the replay of his incident you may find it was a mixture of being intentional and unintentional



Back to the topic my team of the GP has to be BMW-SAUBER, with SEBASTIAN, NICK and ROBERT suddenly looking the next threat to the top 3.

I gave up on F1 since Hungary when Barrichello was stupid enough of using full wets when everybody else were using intermediaries.

Button was very thankful.

Anyway, people told me that Turkey was a great race and was seriously inclined to watch Monza. After all, is MONZA!

But the penalty Alonso received helped me keeping my promise. The video footage is below.

Schumacher is good enough and he should not be helped in such a shameful way.

Button was very thankful.

Anyway, people told me that Turkey was a great race and was seriously inclined to watch Monza. After all, is MONZA!

But the penalty Alonso received helped me keeping my promise. The video footage is below.

Schumacher is good enough and he should not be helped in such a shameful way.

That was the first time I saw the footage. Its a stretch to say the FA blocked Massa on that lap.
