I would have kept all my LPs (I actually don't throw anything away

) Now I hardly listen to the tapes and I worry about their degrading quality.
I should copy them to CDs I know

Really? Some sort of nasty rash? She could have had some cream to fix that problem.

As soon as I settle I will do the same. Have all the LPs recorded on CDs or DVDs or even BluRay... But I won't throw the LPs away. Too precious.

Maybe but the CD player at home or in the car doesn't play DVD.
I just started getting into MP3 and perhaps that is the way to go but somehow I feel that LPs have the best sound then CDs then MP3s.

Mostly better than mp3s. CDs though are doing a good job. Depends on the player too. I have an old old old gramophone. Its quality is unbeatable.

Problem is that LPs are very heavy (when you have over a hundred) and when you are a student you cannot afford to ship them 3000 miles away
BluRay or HD-DVD, perhaps one could have the whole collection on one of those

As long as you enjoy what you listen to it probably doesn't matter what format.

My music is on CD, mp3 on my laptop (around 50% of my collection), mp3 on my PSP and mp3 on my phone. Don't think I can handle an more devices

Yes, but I think I understand what Ed says. There is a certain warmth to the sound when you listen to an LP which you don't get from an mp3. Even the background hiss is sort of cool
