I am sure you know all this but I just want to highlight this issue when you try to compare an action by say Michael when he was 30 and Alonso when he was 24.
I still remember Michael banging the steering wheel of his Ferrari when he retired in Melbourne in 98 I think and he is German
And what about stalling in 99 at the grid at Suzuka the same year ?
Not to mention what he did in Spa

Yes he has time to mature. It's only that if McLaren brings him down by not living up to his expectations and he turns sour is what I am afraid of. And in all honesty I don't think McLaren is as high in quality as Renault at this time... Schumi had lost it a few times in the past, I recall very well. After all he's a human being. However he got over them fast. Alonso may not be the case.

That I very much disagree with you. If the McLaren turns out a lemon again Alonso will not turn sour. I am sure of that. He will be frustrated yes but he will recover, he can and will handle it.
I don't think even he thinks he can keep winning titles year after year.

I know this may not make much sense but given that he made it pretty much on his own makes him a very strong person mentally.

History is full of such examples. Some recovered, most did not. At this time I don't see Alonso walking down a different path. I hope he'll prove me wrong. Wait, no, I hope that we won't get to see that and he continues to be competitive so we have a good 2007 season and 2008.

Alonso would be competitive on a tricycle..........as i have said many times, there are 3-5 guys out there who are just as good. Sadly, the machinery makes the difference. IE. Schuey was beaten a number of times in his prime, on bicycles, in karts, etc

When they go for less driver aids the true champions will shine. Or at least thats what I am hoping to happen...
