Awaiting the word for the engines to start................all the jet dryers and series/track safety vehicles are off the track

Cars exiting pitlane to begin the parade/formation laps(expecting two formation laps before the green, although race control might run the first two or three laps under caution as they did in 2006)

Race control reporting that the race will begin under caution on lap 1; the green will fly on lap 4

Dixon moves into slipstream behind Sharp, tries to set him up for the pass through 2......can't get it done, though

Most of the cars running nose-to-tail, using the draft off the cars in front of them to build momentum going into 1 and 2.........

Franchitti beginning to pull away from Hornish and Castroneves; Dixon tried to pass Castroneves but couldn't, falling back a hair from the first three

Hornish, for a moment, looked as though he was going to make a high-side pass for the lead around the Scotsman; he got back behind Franchitti, though and remains in 2nd
Patrick passes Carpenter for 9th; Carpenter got high going through turn 2 and Patrick slipped past him

For the second time, Hornish tries to pass Franchitti up high, but can't make it stick
Race control reporting the frontrunners and beginning to catch the backmarkers

Scheckter passes Kanaan for 6th; Patrick around Sharp for 8th
The separation btwn. Franchitti and the Team Penske cars is roughly .2 seconds
