Race control is reporting a red flag condition at the moment....Timo Glock spun on slicks at turn 1!
Most of the cars are still on the wets; however, Tagliani is reportedly preparing to go back out on slicks. Will he suffer as Glock has, and risk losing his fast lap?

Race control says that due to the red flag stoppage, Timo Glock will lose his fastest lap; this drops him all the way back to 17th!
Top 5 with 3 mins. left is unchanged; Tracy reports to his team's manager, Neil Micklewright, that it is too wet for slicks still.

SeaBass now P1 and Tag now P2...can SeaBass take the provisional pole and the 1 pt. that goes with it?

Bordais and Tracy have had a war of words at a media conference.
Bordais has stated that Tracy has lost a "bunch of titles by acting like an idiot"and went on to say..."I've done nothing wrong....stuff him I don't care anymore" in response to Tracy blaming him for putting him (Tracy) in to the wall at 200mph.
The concrete canyon of Surfers is not the place for antagonism on the track.

With a dry track and decent weather conditions, the usual suspects were at the front of the chart as lap times plummeted during the session. Fastest out was Oriol Servia(#2 PacifiCare FC/L) with a time of 1:33.971 secs.(107.076 mph), nearly .5 secs. ahead of Paul Tracy(#3 Indeck/Forsythe FC/L). The rest of the top 5 are as follows:3-Dominguez, 4-Bourdais and 5-Wilson.
The fourth session is set to begin in about 30 minutes, with the QS-2 qualifying session set to start soon afterwards. As with yesterday, I'll provide a running commentary on the session, explaining some of the nuances of a Champ Car session and what goes on during the session.

With the second qualifying session about to begin, here are a few reminders on CCWS qualifying. On the road and street courses, there are two(2) sessions, a QS-1 and QS-2, with the driver's best time from either session being their fastest time on the grid.
The provisional polesitter from the Friday QS-1 session is awarded a front-row starting spot, regardless of how they do in the QS-2 session. Each driver is alloted 15 laps, and as with the first session, expect them to divide it into 7-8 laps stints.
And the fourth practice session has just concluded, with the provisional polesitter, Sebastien Bourdais(#1 McDonald's FC/L), topping the chart with a time of 1:33.814 secs. By comparison, the polewinning time from the 2004 event, set by 2003 series champion Paul Tracy, was a 1:33.556 secs. Following SeaBass in the top-5 are:2-Dominguez, 3-Servia, 4-Da Matta, and 5-Tracy.
As in the first qual. session, if a driver causes a red flag stoppage, as Timo Glock did yesterday, they will lose their fast lap in the session.

Quickly behind them are Justin Wilson, Alex Tagliani, and Fabrizio Del Monte. For Del Monte, this is his second CC race of the year; he started for Jensen Mtrspts. at Long Beach back in April.
For Tag, this is a home race of sorts, for two reasons:1-his wife, Bronte Tagliani, is from Australia, and 2--his sponsor, Aussie Vineyards, is based in the country, as well.
Seven of the drivers are out on the track now.

The third member of Team Australia, Will Power, now sets the fast lap of the session, with a time of 1:36.496 secs., only to be supplanted by Tagliani with a 1:35927 secs. flyer.

Top 5 of the session after 6 mins.:Servia, Power, Da Matta, Wilson and Tagliani.
Several more cars are now out on the track.....just a reminder; the top 5 lists are for this session only, as it is the fastest time regardless of session which sets the grid(the exceptions being the provisional and QS-2 polesitter, if set by different drivers).
