Montoya wins his first race!!!!

At today's Telcel/Motorola 200 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, Juan Pablo Montoya became only the second non-American driver to win a NASCAR-sanctioned event, holding off a hard-charging Denny Hamlin to win his first career NASCAR race; it was a little bittersweet, though......with about ten laps to go, he knocked his teammate, Scott Pruett, off the track to take the lead(Pruett finished 5th....although I suspect the Chipster's probably not too happy.... :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: )

Congratulations, though, to JPM.........congratulations!! :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap:

Seems like Monty went to the police driving school, perfectly executed pit maneuver :lol:

Oh and this track had both left and right turns, something not so familiar to many a nascar driver.

Well done JPM :clap: :clap:

Monty probably just went riding with the CHP [California Highway Patrol] for a week. Or else he's been hangin' with Tony Stewart!!!

Score one for the open wheelers!!! :drive: :clap: :up:

Before you all go & congratulate JPM, I think you should here what his team-mate had to say;

"Of all the people to take you out, it was a teammate," Pruett said.

"That was just no-good, low, nasty, dirty driving. I can't even put it into words, I'm so disappointed. That's just bad driving."

And even his own team;

"I'm upset that we wrecked Scott Pruett," Parrott said.

"I'm glad we won the race but I'm upset that we got our teammate. Juan's got a long way to go. He's a great driver but he's got to get his head on straight."

And I would agree, Monty went for a gap that (from outside at least) didnt exist, much like the numerous non-gaps he found in F1.

JPM however was sorry for taking out his team mate, but nonchalantly chalked it up as "a racing incident, just one of those things" with a shug to go with the look which sort of said "who cares, not my problem"

:conf3: :alright: :rolling: :ROTFLMAO: :rolling:

Team Owners are not impressed by a damage bill caused by their own driver, especially if it cost them a 1-2 finish as well 8)

Ah true but I guess Monty doesn't really give a toss about that. :oops:

Look at all of us yakking about what happened. In the end, the controversy gets booties into the grandstand seats. In America right now, no one is really concerned with driving tactics. The controversy means money for everyone involved. Pruett is probably the only one that really gives a toss about what happened, and as someone put it, he must BS to make up for the fact that he didn't win it.

Both are great drivers, so personally, I don't have an opinion about the incident. Pruett has put a few off the track himself. I don't think either is a dirty driver, but both are chargers.

NASCAR is boring enough as it is, so they need the extra drama charge. Last year's Nextel Cup was like one of those stupid reality shows with all of the drama that got covered! I hardly remember any memorable racing.

Agreed. NASCAR could use a bit more excitement. Montoya surely will spice up the things a bit. I believe the fact that the race he won was on one of the few circuits that has both left and right hand turns did not make a major difference. He's a good driver and deserves the place...
