The 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix

A tremendous race to mark the end of a most entertaining season. Wonderfull efforts by the top 5 finishers.

Starting with KIMI I feel he couldnt get any more out of his package, just watch PEDROs (in my eyes dismal and possibly last McLaren) performance. KIMI really must be looking forward to take his seat in the red machine. However I would expect FELIPE to be a real match for him next season.

MICHAEL in finishing 4th after all showed once more he still is the greatest and he leaves on a high note which he deserves. Even a victory from pole probably wouldnt have earned him any more in this (hopefully not really) last race. I think that nobody but the great AYRTON could have shown anything like this last drive, NIGEL could have done it but not sure he wouldnt have hit the wall....MICHAEL is my driver of the day just in front of JENSON. All the best for him in the future and I for one hope we will see him lining up in 2008.

JENSON is WDC material and I wonder what he has to do to convince otherwise knowledgeable people like Julian...He once more destroyed RUBENS which is no mean feat in itself and moreover if you want to have a glimpse of 2007 you might have recognised JENSON took easily more than anybody else out of the last 7 GPs, with 40 points!

FERNANDO did nothing wrong and was smooth as silk throughout the season. He was not faster than his great rival but arguably made less errors and is a deserved champion for the 2nd time. I found it delightful to see him shake hands with MICHAEL a few times this weekend and to see how moved he was after crossing the finish line. All the best for him at McLaren. They have to get their act together though, in the last few GPs they moved abit backwards which makes me less optimistic about FERNANDOs chances in 2007.

FELIPE was an easy winner in the best package of the weekend. He was never pushed in the slightest way (FERNANDO wouldnt have taken any risk in this race..) which is why I wouldnt overrate his drive really. MICHAEL made up some 50 seconds on him in the 60 laps after his
puncture so there is no comparison. But congratulations for a controlled drive which, together with the package, must make him a firm favourite to take the WDC next season..

The 2007 season could be even better as the packages will move closer together and without the rather useless tyre war.

No way the top 4 will be anybody than FELIPE, KIMI, JENSON and FERNANDO......

Even though I don't agree with all of what you said, I must say that was a good post

And don't discount Renault even if Alonso isn't driving for them next year. Fisichella still finished 4th this year And Kovalainen might be the Finn to win the title

Alonso may have a hard time at McLaren but that will be good for the sport and good for him. Still, he will be amazing

That isn't a good record for sure. Don't know what is it about Webber and first lap accidents. This year he retired 5 times due to accidents, 4 of them on the first lap! If it is all down to luck, he must be one unlucky guy!

Speaking of not so great records, Williams had their worst finish since 1978!!
In 2003 they finished 2nd, in 2006 they finished 8th. That is a massive slide.
I do hope they recover and don't dissapear like Jordan, Arrows, Prost, Minardi, etc ...

The speed and handling of the Ferrari was down to tyres and they won't have that advantage next year, so with any luck we'll have more even championship next year. However I do have one caveat; there may be some residual benefit from having run Bridgestones for years and years.

As the aim of the FIA is to restrict speed with the one make tyre rule it would be strange indeed if Bridgestone doesn't come up with a different type of product with different qualities. It would be just as strange if they have to come up with a different solution and compound for each of the teams on the grid. But as we all know that is not beyond the incompetence of Formula 1

I think you under estimate the Kovalainen and don't be surprised to see one Lewis Hamilton blow everyone into the weeds. He's rather more than your average bear.
