Another thrilling race with plenty of on track action from start to finish.
Felipe Massa wins his first race of his career. Fernando Alonso benefited from the 2 Ferraris pitting together due to the safety car and got ahead of Michael and stayed ahead until the end of the race.
Jenson Button finished a good 4th place and was the best of the rest.
Pedro de la Rosa on a single stop managed 5th while Fisichella who spun on the first lap and lost his front wing managed 6th.
Ralf Schumacher managed 7th after starting 15th due to an engine change while Barrichello made the top 8.
Your thoughts ?

I think this would now be the best track in F1 
Even if Scummi wins the title this will be his last season.
Massa, Webbo, Alonso,PDLR, Button,Kubica, and Heidfield are quicker than him.
Had webbo not had to manage a "normal" Williams mech problem hw would have been in the points.
How many drivers did the Safety car stuff up.?
Push To Pass in F1.....we heard it from Honda to Barra
Who has become aware of his mortality......there is no place in F1 for such a person
Time after time the Barra of old would have been stuffing it down the inside, around the outside, etc. Has he been signed for '07.?
Kimi is marking time.
Nico's "move over" for DC in the pit entry was something special
Scott Speed is not particularly.
Sato is Sato..
DC will be bodyguarding Newey til The "08" car is designed, 'specially if the '07 car is ok.
Ralf did his usual "look at me" as the season draws to a close...the guy will be a bloody menace from here on in.
Trulli should go race pedal cars. He just aint got it.So much potential,..........now zip!

in all fairness, MICHAEL is hardly slower than the bunch of drivers you mentioned. Actually he was consistently the quickest today but paid hard for the SC phase. This was a prime example of FERRARI not preferring their No.1 and the result might cost them the WDC - but fair enough and obviously they might get a few 1-2s before the season's end and still grab it. Anyway those calling for "fair play" by FERRARI could be satisfied, especially the FERNANDO fans....

in all fairness, MICHAEL is hardly slower than the bunch of drivers you mentioned. Actually he was consistently the quickest today but paid hard for the SC phase. This was a prime example of FERRARI not preferring their No.1 and the result might cost them the WDC - but fair enough and obviously they might get a few 1-2s before the season's end and still grab it. I understand your point of view. Mine is that Scummi is making mistakes that we would not have seen pre Alonso. I really believe he has lost .01-3., and i think that after today he knows it.F1greyhound wrote:Julian,

Well done to Massa, he drove well but he should thank Alonso for keeping Michael at bay otherwise he wouldn't have won!
Alonso got lucky for a change and benifited from the safety car. He matched the Ferraris in a car that wasn't as fast. He is my driver of the day
Lots of overtaking, there were fights for positions everywhere. Great race. All the tracks should be like this one.

You want them to do the stupid thing and pit Michael first and get Massa in the next lap ? That would have put Massa way down! There is the Constructors title to fight for. Besides they were hoping Michael can either pass Alonso at the next stop or on the track but neither worked and face it, the prime reason Michael couldn't pass via the pits despite having 2 or 3 laps more fuel was that your driver stuffed up and went wide. Another big mistake by your champ when he is expected to deliver.
And had he managed to pass Alonso, do you really think he would have finished second ? Be honest!
And I am glad that you are now saying they 'might' get a few 1-2 instead of it is all over
Alonso INCREASED the gap in Turkey, it is now 12 points with 4 races to go. You can hope
I hope all the remaining races are exciting as this. And may the best win

In all fairness, MS is no longer the "quickest today". At best, he is a veteran among rookies. When you are a vet, you don't have to be the "quickest." Over a single lap, Jenson Button may be quicker in sheer speed, but MS is quick when it matters most. I'd say Alonso fully has the measure of him now. He has beaten Michael in every way-- with the pit stop pass, on track, in rain, on old tires, with a two race old engines. Today's result is a victory for Alonso. Nevermind that Massa came in first in the race. Alonso may have lost the battle (today's race), but he is winning the war.F1greyhound wrote:Julian,

Schumi set the two fastest laps of the race, and five out of the ten fastest laps, imagine how fast he would be going if he wasnt so old and had lost all those tenths
But then I am only using actual fastest lap times to highlight who was going fastest, I'm sure someone will point out the error of my ways.
Sweet FA "stuffed up" and went wide, very nearly letting Schumi past, but we don't hear about that. He has made plenty of mistakes in the last few races, and nearly gave his position away right at the end!
Schumi didnt finish behind Sweet FA solely because of the SC, but sweet FA wouldnt have gotten ahead of him without it. After the SC, Schumi could have got ahead again if he had been right on sweet FA's tail as he pitted, but in the second stint Schumi couldn't extract the sort of speed he showed in the rest of the race. Too bad. It was a great race, sweet FA gets my drive of the day for keeping Schumi behind him, Massa a very close second for showing real speed and keeping it under control.

Scummi also made errors, as did many, if not all the other drivers. However the point of my original post is that he is not as quick as he was.
That is my humble opinion.
